Yes, a very misleading headline.

Given the fact that most major initiatives are leaked anyway I have to wonder if the culture of secrecy does more harm than good these days. There are ways to be open without giving away the blueprints to competitors.

How would the proposed border adjustment tax affect Apple?

How would the proposed border adjustment tax affect Apple? Excellent question. I have seen estimates as high as $6 eps increase to Q1 2018. We don't know how much cash they will bring home, at what rate, when it will happen, and what will they ultimately use it for. When we have clarity on these questions, then the stock will react accordingly.

Just a good reason to leave that won't antagonize Apple management. Is not the true reason. Sound noble and in moral high grounds. Most people leave because of conflict with bosses and pay/ promotion/ title.

Paul Ryan is calling it a border adjustment tax. It's supposed to offset reduced revenue from lower income tax rates. They're saying that it will make prices on imports higher in the U.S. but that the effect for U.S. consumers will be offset by a stronger dollar. Stronger dollar and higher prices on imports seems like it could be bad for Apple.

Most people leave because of conflict with bosses and pay/ promotion/ title. It is not unusual for anyone, particularly highly talented and much in demand individuals, to change jobs several times. Lattner is in his late 30's, which is often a time for people to reconsider what they want to do with their future. Perhaps the story is correct, but there does not seem to be a flood of people fleeing Apple due to its secrecy. Maybe a desire to do more publishing of his work is indeed at the root of his discontent, which is not unreasonable. Let's see how much of his work at Tesla becomes publicly available.

Dead money ...... until we get some clarity on some sort of corporate tax plan to repatriate revenue. Just waiting for that as I don't see any product news that will move the needle anytime soon. Cheers to the longs . With regards to Lattner's move to Tesla .... Tesla is simply a VERY exciting company right now and I can imagine the challenge of trying to bring a revolution to the auto business being a major motivating factor. It's been proven that although money is great .... it is quite often not the leading factor for people's actions. Who knows? I know if I had any skills in that area I'd be dying to work for Tesla .... too bad they don't need a guitar player

If we had a "Pull Numbers Out Of Your Asses" contest, I'd predict 119.99 for this Friday's close and if 120 were to be broken 'comfortably' it would be next week. Of course, everything goes down the drain if/when that perfectly ill-timed article comes out at the last minute from the far east that iPhone orders are down by 30%! From what you see in my post from Tuesday, I'm lowering my "price target" for today's close to 118.99 Still bullish on being able to break 120 next week.

Have thought about that but he went to Tesla (Apple has Project Titan) and Apple has began allowing guys to publish their works. He could do similar job in Project Titan and has some of his works published.

Thanks for the link. His decision from his statements indicate he appreciated his time at Apple and left on good terms.
