I sometimes post anecdotal experiences based on my visits to my local Apple store here in NY. I'm thrilled to say that this last one was amazing in multiple ways. I had gone in to service my watch - which I do not wear often and yet the face popped off - literally - and with no previous bumping of any sort. The Genius Bar tech said it DOES happen quite a bit which I was NOT happy to hear. Apple tells you that they repair them but she told me that in actuality they swap it out. I don't understand why they don't use better glue or whatever it is they use to keep it in place (I literally rolled up my sleeve to read the time and it popped off!) As I was waiting at the counter for everything to be processed, the tech asked me if she could look at my phone I had placed on the counter. I handed her the phone and she showed it to her manager. My phone was in a case so I had not noticed that it was slightly bulging out on one end - she said that the bulge was the battery and it represented a dangerous situation as it can catch fire. My warranty had just expired but I was charged a de minimis amount - and was handed a brand new phone. I have to give kudos to the young lady with the eagle eye who happened to spot the situation on my phone, brought it to my attention and rectified it on the spot. That was over and above her call of duty but needless to say, I'm immensely appreciative. There truly is nowhere else you go (and I DO visit the most expensive of shops) where the service is so customer-friendly and the overall experience just locks you into being a life long customer. I love Apple. ❤️

Phoebe I appreciate your anecdotes. My experience with the Apple store has always been amazing. Indeed, while I'm waiting I like to sit at the genius bar and watch how they interact with the customers. I've seen some amazing things unfold. Even where it seems futile, they go above and beyond. I remember one trip in particular, where a woman came in sobbing. She had been working on her dissertation for months and her Mac crashed. It contained the dissertation and all of the supporting data. The genius handled the situation extraordinarily. He promised they would do everything they could possibly do to recover everything. I was in awe at how well and gently the situation was handled. Just to complete the story, I was in the store later and asked him how the recovery went. They were able to recover all of the data and documents for her.

Colin Gillis yesterday (previous price target $85)
"BGC Partners upgraded Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) from Sell to Hold with a price target of $125.00."
Analyst Colin Gillis commented, "Apple reported December quarter results that had plenty of chinks but did not show a meaningful decline to support a negative thesis on the stock. Our issues with Apple’s dependence on the sale of iPhone hardware to drive results are still intact, but a catalyst for a meaningful pull back in the stock has passed in our view and we change our rating to HOLD from SELL. Regarding the results, The iPhone drove 69% of total December revenue, the highest contribution since the December 2014 quarter, pushing Apple shares approximately back to the level they were trading at two years ago. While there was enthusiasm for the quarterly results, the enthusiasm is driven by our view of low expectations for the company.."

... she said that the bulge was the battery and it represented a dangerous situation as it can catch fire. ... That was over and above her call of duty but needless to say, I'm immensely appreciative. To play devil's advocate, she may have saved Apple millions in possible legal restitution if the phone had caught fire, burned down your house. Probably more about protecting Apple's interests and not doing you a favor. Nice to get a new phone though.

Yes - that did not escape me - however all the damage it could have caused PLUS harm to my physical self ... the suing option would have been the least of it. I'd like to think that there is good in some and she did it for reasons that were - at a minimum - mutually beneficial. But let's just say it had a happy ending. You all know how critical I was when the watches came out and all these sales people at Apple could not answer a question for that whole first week. That was an awful launch as far as having your sales force prepared. I was very disappointed and critical on the Board. So I have to give a compliment when deserved. One thing I did NOT like to hear was that it is a "common occurrence" to have the face pop off. What's up with THAT?!

Here is the problem with Colin Gillis - he has gotten some really bad hair dye (have you seen him lately???) and it has affected his brain and his power to think reasonably. Idiot.

It happened to me but without the happy resolution. I had to start over and rebuild from scratch. It is just the Gods asking, "How badly do you want this anyway?" I am glad she got everything back.

Didn't you use carbon paper for copies like I did for my master's thesis?
