Which direction will AAPL go...up or down?
Place your bets or hold on for long term investors, I haven't a clue.

I read it yesterday, and thought it was a very misleading headline. It should have been "Apple's Devices Lose Favor to Cheaper Google and Windows Devices with Cash-strapped School Systems." Now, perhaps what those systems offer is perfectly sufficient for most classrooms, but it was clear that price was the driving factor.

The Zach's article was little more than the numbers from the earnings report, but it does give an easy way to look at the effect of the 14 week quarter. I do not understand why the quarter is being viewed as a positive. Revenue for last year's 13 week first quarter was 75.9 billion. At that rate a 14 week quarter would have produced $75.9* 14/13 or $81.7 billion. This past quarter revenue for the 14 week quarter was $78.4 billion. That is $3.3 billion or 4.6% LESS than a year ago correcting for the number or weeks.
I am sure that WB has taken all this into account and is not concerned about the long term, but I fail to understand how these results have provided a rationale for the kind of rally we have seen since earnings. There is more at work here than repatriation or Trump or super-cycle. All of those were in play in November. From November until earnings the stock rose about 1.5 points per week. Since earnings, it has risen 4.5 points per week. The only difference that I can see is the erroneous interpretation of a 14 week quarter. I continue to be cautious

My 2¢
Repatriation and Corporate Tax reform outweigh concerns over growth of revenue. WS was concerned over revenue decline which did not happen, FCF is still incredible so combined with repatriation & tax reform AAPL was undervalued.

The rally is because of the expected tax cuts, repatriation and Cook's goal to double services in 4 years. My opinion of course. Keep in mind the whole market is at all-time highs. Apple has certainly benefited from the rising tide in addition to individual strength.

Can AAPL break $140 on a Friday afternoon? According to maximum-pain.com, max pain is $137. Options be damned.

AAPL showing surprising strength. I though the large number of $137 calls would pull us down.
I'm looking for a sudden late afternoon pop in both AAPL and the markets. Just an opinion. No facts to back it up.

Love the Macalope, Rob Ederle "What people often forget is that the first-generation iPod was actually a failure." The Macalope "The reason people may “forget” that is because it’s completely untrue." Rob Ederle is completely wrong so often (more like always wrong) it is hilarious. since84, thanks for the link.

This is the first time I've felt comfortable saying this, JD, but that's just a bunch of bull!
(Can you tell I'm a bit giddy?)
