Well here comes the party pooper on CNBC at 5:00 pm.... Gundlach coming to say how you should be playing AAPL ... Gunlach - AAPL likely bounce with broader market in the short term. Even he pointed out the reversal. For longer he is still a seller, and use the bounce to short. Only incremental innovation...

FYI Gundlach saying:
on a short term basis he thinks we put a bottom in but doesn't think AAPL will be the super stock it once was. He thinks it was a victim of tax selling. He thinks their products are only incrementally better at each iteration...and thinks that the Samsung ad tells it all..."It's so last year." He doesn't see how the company can constantly reinvent itself. That said - short-term bounce and maybe you get $50 bucks out of it.

My prediction for the next three days. This POS stock will be totally flat for the next two days - a total frikken snoozefest. Take that one to the bank. Then it will move up or down on Monday.

My predictions may be wrong. But what I do know is that my portfolio that was 7 figures will recover. What I do know is that you have never had a 7 figure portfolio. How do I know that, because you told Chas and I exactly what you had on the golf course in May of 2011. You have had more margin calls than everyone in the forum put together. I know this is the internet, but dang if you do just get me bent out of shape with your nonsense.

We should clarify what seven figures means just to be sure. For example, is $12,432.56, seven figures? After all, there is seven figures in that number.

Obviously a good close under the circumstances. This morning looked grim. To revisit pain range, 525 did hold: Stk Calls Puts 515 684 8,459 520 3,171 11,111 525 4,619 10,101530 9,099 9,991 535 10,819 7,265 540 13,127 9,514 545 13,552 8,424 550 16,985 10,073 555 12,661 5,492 560 13,908 6,510 I'm sure that the 530 calls overtook the puts (if they added 7100 on Thursday, surely the lemmings could add another 1000+ today). Tim Cook's G5 could crash into Apple HQ, killing every Apple employee and executive, and the call open interest would still go up. Even if the pain-rampaging EO's kept us above 525, those all close up in the last hour. So staying green into the close is a small but welcome sign of green goodness. OBTW dumb bunny Scott Nations just said the early dip this morning was due to OpEx. WTF? What a utterly clueless remark. If anything, OpEx is what saved the day, you dumb bunny. I'm sure this dumb bunny has no idea that puts outweighed calls dramatically @ 525 and below. And the "bond king" advising us on Apple, how nice. I'll be on Dr. Gupta's show giving brain surgery advice later today. And Mike Cowpie is a dumb bunny, even if he is short-term bullish. Gawd these guys need to be struck hard in their private parts to prevent passing along their genes. WHATEVER you do Melissa, don't have any actual Apple bulls on your show to make the fundamental case, just for balance.

What ever.
My last margin call was in Spring of that year and bought a ton more with my own money since then.
I know what my balance was in Sept and I know what it will be when we get back to $690.
I have been blessed and will continue to be blessed because I am not trying to get rich overnight with short term options.
Apple is an amazing long term investment and as tempting as options are, I will continue to profit from good old stock.
We will see a p/e of 17 again and I will patiently wait. When we see a p/e of 13 I will sell once again and buy 6-8 month calls for kicks.

My predictions may be wrong. But what I do know is that my portfolio that was 7 figures will recover. When it all said and counted I only lost $6k by betting on Oct options. Buy and Hold works for me and I sleep well at night not worrying about where the stock will be in 4-6 months. I may make a cool million just for kicks if I am lucky but I will get $200k simply because I did not panic with my April options. It is all play money for me, so if I lose my initial investment I won't cry because my portfolio is still strong no matter how wrong my predictions are. Sponge, I wish you the best with your portfolio, really. I have read your predictions over the past year or two and always enjoy them. I am sometimes amused but the combination of hedging and certainty in the projections, but I am always entertained and I certainly cannot claim to have any better projections. I second your confidence in Apple's recovery. To me the stress with Apple comes not from the price fluctuations, but from the cognitive dissidence created by the irrational behavior. So good luck, keep the predictions coming and I'll buy you a drink at 1000

If content is the only thing holding the iTV back, then Apple should take the $100+ billion and buy the NFL (let's not talk about anti-trust issues). No, take about $40B and get controlling interest in Disney (SJ heirs already have about 9%). That would give them ABC/ESPN (MNF, NASCAR, BCS, etc.), all of Disney's content, all of Pixar's content, Touchstone, etc. How about buying DirecTV instead, unless the programming contracts would not transfer to Apple in any buy/sell. Good to see your avatar oh wise one....

Boy, were you WAAAAAY off on calling the bottom for 2 pm today. That was no where near the low at 2. I can find no reason to trust your judgement anymore. Dude - you have to give me some credit for calling the day! C'mon...! Phoebe gets the Super Awesome Cool Chick Award™.

Actually what Gundlach said was borderline crazy: He said that he shorted at 610 and then the stock went against him to 705 (so he lost his shirt) and now the stock is down here at 527. So he lost ~$100 and made ~$100 (approximately).....GENIUS....I need to find me some talent
(I know I'm being simplistic - he didn't say what if any adjustments he made along the way but this wasn't the trade of the century that should have been a "featured AAPL trade" on CNBC - ridiculous)

I was thinking of you Mark. Jeez. Just stop making predictions (iPadMini, Obama, zillions of PPS guesses over the years). For you newbs, Sponge was always my contrarian indicator. Made lots of money. I'm not trying to be mean, just people should know who they're dealing with.

Seriously, if the market can piss away the dividend (and then some), why have it? I'd rather the company kept the cash safe. I would rather Apple increase it 10-15% a year

Awww...thanks! Missed you today. Felt like barfing on my keyboard after a few knife catching escapades gone bad. Bot some weeklies at the bottom. Netted $8.70 on them :-) Ending green will help a little with the hyperventilating. Good weekend all Chas, missed you too!! I think we all need new keyboards after this downwave. I plunked down my last nickels around 508, set trailing stop losses, and closed down the trading program. Not looking at my accounts until we're over 600.

I am about to place my order for my first ipad. The ipad 4. I read a lot of PDF's, does the page turn work for PDF's? Great choice, you'll absolutely love it. I just tested a PDF but no page flip for me. Only with iBooks. That said, the PDF page slide is absolutely fine. I have my iPad loaded up with PDFs, and they read very well in this format. Have no fear!

The only thing I asked today was for evidence that "buying on weakness" is good for the stock price and "selling on strength" is bad for the stock price. The only thing I got in response was a temper tantrum, which apparently is good for the stock price (today is my only evidence). So, here I am asking the same question. Any evidence out there about "buying on weakness" and "selling on strength"? A few more tantrums and we'll hit new all time highs:) But seriously, today's action was really interesting. Seen it before and it looks promising to me. You should sell weakness and buy strength. The trick is in knowing which is which.
