When I heard about Elon Musk's new venture I couldn't help but feel even sadder about Steve Jobs' absence. Can you imagine all he might have done wrt being a visionary in various fields had he lived?! Taken too soon 😔

Now we know the reason Apple was really interested in LiquidMetal. LiquidMetal is much more resistant to fracturing at extremely cold temperatures. This allows use of very small gears and bearings without heating and excessive insulation and exotic lubricants. Just thought I would add to the intrigue and speculation.

All eyes on Paris for the weekend...Viva la France! Putin will be bursting with joy if he can successfully compromise France's election too. Let's hope the people of France send a strong message that the democracy is resilient enough to overcome the racists and bigots and fear-mongers of the world.

Let's hope the people of France send a strong message that the democracy is resilient enough to overcome the racists and bigots and fear-mongers of the world. Do you really believe that? Turn off the hysterical liberal news, you'll feel better. Here... read why Clinton lost and get over it. www.amazon.com/Shattered-Inside-Hillary-Clintons-Campaign/dp/0553447084?tag=breitbart035-20excerpts: "About a dozen counties in Michigan flipped from Obama to Trump, but one mattered most. Macomb County, flush with working- and middle-class whites, gave Trump more than his statewide margin of victory. Obama won the county by 16,103 votes in 2012; Trump took it by 48,348 votes, or about four times his statewide margin." "In Florida, Trump crushed Hillary in the suburban swing areas outside Tampa and St. Petersburg. As he did nationally, Trump did better with white Floridians than Romney had, doubling up Clinton at 64 percent to 32 percent. Romney had beaten Obama 61 percent to 37 percent among Florida whites." "Exit polls in Pennsylvania showed that Clinton and Obama won women by thirteen-point margins in 2016 and 2012, respectively. But in a state that has never elected a woman governor or US senator, men favored Trump by seventeen points— a massive increase over Mitt Romney’s three-point edge in 2012. From a geographical perspective, Hillary did better than Obama in Philadelphia and its surrounding suburban counties but lost working-class Democratic strongholds in Erie and Luzerne Counties that Obama had carried."

I always forget how to block members on Proboards. You have to click on the name in the upper right of the post. then that takes you to the members profile. After that, click on the gear in the upper right corner. The pulldown menu says "Block Member" I have no idea how to unblock them.

Didn't know Putin was responsible for the latest terrorist attack.

This obsession on a financial thread to post political hysteria is annoying.

This obsession on a financial thread to post political hysteria is annoying. No worries. The echo chamber of the liberals on this board will keep them from understanding why Trump got re elected. Russia makes them feel better when they don't get what is happening. I too was shocked about Trump, until I understood his appeal to those voters. The irony is that many either gave up on the stock long ago and now don't see that Trump has helped them more then ever. WS loves this president and Apple shareholders should be happy.

If aapl is where it is, right now, because 'we' love the president then there is no substance to aapl. No APPL is where it is because Apple is fundamentally a solid long term prospect. Remember that Apple is only sitting on a P/E of 17. In my books that is kinda where it ought to be on any old day.
Politicians have done nothing for Apple. Apple have made themselves in spite of politicians. WS 'loves' the idea of repatriation, but it hasn't happened yet.
As for the groans about political comments, in my mind political comments are fine and they add to a fuller picture of sentiment. The problem is the accompanying condescension, petty snipes and manifestly simplistic political analysis that comes with those comments typically. It ain't black and white. Across the political spectrum from right to left there are positives and negatives. There are also an abundance of contradictions and an anomalies. So if you're going to be an armchair political analysist, you're probably going to look like a market analysis most of the time....and we all know what we think about their credibility.
