Many good people have left and don't post often here simply because bully like behavior is tolerated and everyone seems to defend each other. .... Spongie, you've mistaken HERE with THERE. We don't tolerate bullying here.

Amusingly, Uncle Walt mentions the A6 indirectly, then says nothing about the iPhone's "speed" other than in the context of LTE. iPhone helps me friggin' make money! And I needs my speeds!

(...) Cost is important, but not near as important as your exit point. I'm just amazed how much energy people put into the price they pay, vs what they think they can sell it for. I work backwards from my anticipated exit point to a price that yields my desired ROI. If I can't make my desired ROI (in a specific time frame) then I don't buy. AAPL's price relative to what it is after a 1% - 2% pullback has nothing to do with my decisions. For the past 6 weeks I have been averaging 58+% ROI each week buying based on where AAPL will BE, not what I can get AAPL for (pullback price). RE: entry versus exit points... IMHO, both are important. Gregg, you make excellent points, as always. I understand your logic...and I know a wee bit about your risk tolerance. When AAPL cooperates and goes where you expect when you expect, your strategy works perfectly and yields handsomely. But when AAPL doesn't cooperate, what happens then? You may be willing to take that risk, but others may not. Me, I infinitely prefer buying on a pullback from wherever. My logic: AAPL has a heightened probability of going up 2% after it just pulled back 2%.

Just pre-ordered 3 iPhone5's . AT&T could not give me a delivery date at this time ... I'm hoping that I'll get a estimated date after Friday. Sounded like they have been pretty swamped with orders ... FYI, the 32gig iPhone ended up costing about $360 due to the fact that California charges tax on the ENTIRE cost of the phone rather than the "upgrade" price ... So about 20% in tax !!!!

Reviews are where I'd expect them to be. As if I care that some reviewers are getting tired of reviewing those choice-restricted iPhones (T3?) and leaning towards the competition.
The real reviewers will number about 120 million of so, hopefully, as of the end of this fiscal year. And they speak loudest of all.

*skims the article* $299! Pricey! Cry me a river!
Yeah, when the supply chain starts leaking like this (intentionally or otherwise), it's looking like a smaller iPad isn't far away. But give the iPhone 5 the time to shine first! Which would be all part of the plan...

Well...,since we all know molten fire can't actually be delivered over the intertubes I'm thinking that JDS's challenge was considerably more intellectual than commonly associated with 13 year olds so I'm calling troll. Many good people have left and don't post often here simply because bully like behavior is tolerated and everyone seems to defend each other. Goodwine is not a troll simply because he choses to express a view and not be bullied by JD. Sad Sad state of affairs. This forum will not last long with this type of behavior. It was not like this a year ago. I had 6000 posts because I enjoyed the debates. But a few of you just don't seem to get it. Mav, YOu are something else. Sponge, no one is sadder than I when the good ones leave simply because they don't like their point of view being questioned. To this day I miss MountainDoc even though I didn't agree with his politics. He had a huge heart and was brilliant when it came to the financial stuff. It was my opinion (keyword being opinion) that goodwine was an entirely different case pretending to be attacked when he was merely questioned. He was the one that initiated a PERSONAL attack with his 13 year old comment...,hence my feeling he was here to INTENTIONALLY create a ruckus. I always accept the possibility of being wrong and will admit to checking to see if I was the one deleted. Thankfully, that doesn't appear to be the case...,at least for today.

From Siegler at Tech Crunch:
"The iPhone 5 is here.
I’ve had the opportunity to play around with the latest iPhone for the past several days. I won’t beat around the bush: it’s fantastic.
Of course, you’re probably expecting me to say that. But that doesn’t mean I’m wrong. The fact of the matter is, you can either listen to me or lose out. You’re going to want this phone.
Reading the press coverage since the unveiling, you may have heard that the iPhone 5 is disappointing, or boring. Those people, quite frankly, are fools. They either haven’t actually used the device, or only played with it for a few minutes in the hands-on area after last week’s event. (Or worse, they’re projecting their own boredom in their jobs due to Apple’s dominance of the tech scene these past few years.) Using a device on a regular basis is what really matters. And in that regard, the iPhone 5 shines in just about every conceivable way.
In fact, I’ll go a step farther: I really do believe this is the best iPhone upgrade that Apple has done yet (besting the iPhone-to-iPhone 3G jump and the iPhone 3GS-to-iPhone 4 jump). As such, it’s the best version of the iPhone yet. By far."

"CNET's Stein says, "you're going to be shocked at how light this phone is." Nearly every reviewer mentioned that it's so light it disappears in your pocket. Despite being light weight, it doesn't feel cheap like Android phones, say all the reviewers."
Golfed today with a guy that had a large Samsung phone in a case (freaking huge). Asked him if that was a plasma TV in his pocket or if he was just happy to see me. He replied sheepishly that it was a small iPad! They can't make these any larger so what's their next "innovation"? Screwed if you ask me.

Aapl's correlation with the S&P 500 is down to .41 Apple Is Separating Itself From The Rest Of The Stock Market Sam Ro | Sep. 18, 2012, 8:48 PM | Apple's extraordinary $657 billion market value makes it the largest stock in the S&P 500. But that doesn't mean the stock market goes wherever Apple goes. In true Apple fashion, the iPhone maker has increasingly separated itself from the rest of the stock market. According to research conducted by Birinyi & Associates, Apple has a low 0.41 correlation with the S&P 500. In contrast, the average stock in the index boasts a correlation of 0.58. The closer the number is to 1, the tighter the correlation. Apple's correlation is down from a high of 0.72 earlier this year. I'm not looking over my shoulder, but rather at what happened September through December of last year. Until January, Apple traded in a fairly narrow range. Yes, iPhone 5 looks to be bigger than iPhone 4s, but the fact of the matter is that 4s did not move the stock. Nor did iPad sales. This time round, we have the likelihood that Amazon is going to sell a lot of Kindles (at a profit or not is beside the point), plus I'm not sure what impact an iPad Mini, if it materializes, will have on the stock. Lets look at what happened last year. Apple announces the iphone and it launches on the 14th. Looks like the 4S moved the heck out of AAPL. What happened after the 18 had nothing to do with the phone, Apple missed, plain and simple. Now lets look at the ipad3 Well, would you looky there, 100 points after the launch, yep didn't do a darn thing. Meanwhile, since about mid-January Apple has been on a tear. The exuberance got the rug pulled out a bit in April/May, and I would not be surprised if the stock gets knocked down a peg soon. Maybe as much as 10% to 12%. And if the markets drop generally, due either to exhaustion or macro events, I think that Apple, after a drop, may at best tread water until earnings are reported in January. This is where JD has issues. (I agree with JD, BTW) You make this bold statement with nothing to back it up. There are people here who have been posting for years and for someone to come in who they do not know is hard to take. Digesting opinions like this will be met with rebuttal because this is just an opinion. Don't get your feelings hurt, back up what you are saying. I annoy a lot of people here, so don't feel like the lone ranger. On the macro side, I am at this point less concerned about Europe than about growing evidence of a general slowdown, and uncertainty about when, and if, the US is going to get its fiscal house in order. For my personal portfolio, what this means for the moment is that I continue to hold my Apple long position. But I am now evaluating that on a daily basis. I certainly don't intend to add shares or ordinary calls right now. P.S. On the upside, a friend just emailed me to say that there are iPhone lineups forming at Apple's New York flagship store. The rest of this is a concern we should all be concerned about. The debt is out of control, the budget is upside down and Israel might blow up Iran. Personally I do not evaluate my positions every day. I prefer to do my work and put it on cruise control. To each his own.

I will allow for the benefit of this forum that I've seen the Grand Central Apple Store (and Grand Central itself, of course), having had my memory jogged by that pic just now. Really, really nice store to go with the location. Evening photo, MB? Would explain the orange cast from all the lights. Around 12;00 a.m. left there and went to times square. We were there for my B-day in July, most exhausting trip of my life. I was amazed to see 100k people in Times square that late at night.

Times Square is crazy crowded, but in a fun sort of way.
New Year's? Well, that's one heck of a crowd. Not sure I'd "willingly" be there for the ball drop.
