I no longer consider Gurman a reliable source. FaceID story broke way too late (he wasn’t even sure it would be in the iPhone X), and he was wrong about Apple’s plans for TouchID.
Everyone knows Apple is looking deeply into AR devices and applications.

While I don't want to get too euphoric and put on the blinders by focusing on every little bump up in the ATH in AAPL.... It just saw a market cap of 900B!!! Within the next year I think things will settle down a bit with AAPL....ie P/E in the 16-18 range. But shorter term, Apple is looking to have some great growth on units, revenue, and earnings. And that expected uptick is justifying the well deserved uptick in AAPL. Keep doing what you are doing Apple! And while AAPL won't be a straight line, it will keep chugging away, whether that averages out over the longer time period to 10%, 15%, or 20%. Thanks AAPL!

Pretty nice action today given the generally red hue of the markets.

Sold the 14 (only 14 of 20 got filled) Nov 10 175 weeklies that I bought last Friday after ER.
The rise is rather gradual and 175 is being a "pin" in the ass. It's not worth holding for two more days.
Out with a profit of $800.

I wish I knew why AAPL should settle into the 16-18 range when MSFT is at 29 and GOOG is at 37… MSFT and GOOG have shown stronger and more consistent growth in recent years. They deserve a higher P/E, though maybe not double.

I wish I knew why AAPL should settle into the 16-18 range when MSFT is at 29 and GOOG is at 37… or why institutional ownership is 63% while Google is 69% and Facebook is 72% Retail doesn't want to give up their shares? Sold the 14 (only 14 of 20 got filled) Nov 10 175 weeklies that I bought last Friday after ER. The rise is rather gradual and 175 is being a "pin" in the ass. It's not worth holding for two more days. Out with a profit of $800. Nice! As a relative newcomer to options, I was a little nervous about the run-up to ER and volatility crush. I sold the single Jan $150 call I picked up during a dip for just a tad over $1000 profit just before ER. I only have options level 2 but I have several hundred shares in that account so I sold 3 Jan $190 covered calls and bought 3 Jan $170 calls just before ER. My thinking was that the $190 calls would slightly offset both poor ER and vol crush. In hindsight perhaps I should have kept the $150 call and sold a single call somewhere in the $185 to $195 range to guard against crush? or perhaps gone nearer/in the money in buying the lower strike for the spread?

I wish I knew why AAPL should settle into the 16-18 range when MSFT is at 29 and GOOG is at 37… That's easy, it's how the market has priced them. What's the saying, "don't fight the tape". It sure doesn't seem right or fair. But it is what it is. OTOH, big boring oil companies, which used to be the largest companies out there, had their P/E down at 12 and below. But XOM is currently at 30, though it's in a hard state to use as a comparison. Over the years there has been a lot of reasons why AAPL now has a lower multiple. Some are scapegoats (what if they can't innovate anymore), some are valid (concentrated productline), and some are just opinionated crap (I personally think a lot goes back to the Mac vs PC thing, and the psychological self validation of your choice....which we now see again in iOS vs Android, but with a much closer to level playing field). One positive, which I mentioned a year and a half ago, is that by having a lower P/E, the stock shouldn't be able to get knocked down as much, and earnings increases should more directly go to stock price increases. It's not fair. But it is how the market has priced it. If people don't feel it's priced right, they should buy more. I've done my part.

Oh wow. Lou Stuhl is mistaken and the iPhone X facial recognition is *not* "gonna make it easy to get into your husband's phone when he's asleep". There was an important part of the story that "Lou" must have overlooked: Plane Makes Emergency Landing After Passenger Goes Through Sleeping Husband's Phone and Discovers His Infidelity "... How did she she make this breakthrough whilst simultaneous hurtling through the sky? Sources told the Times that the woman unlocked her husband’s cellphone while he was sleeping by putting his unresponsive finger to its scanner and going through his messages..."And this, from Apple: About Face ID advanced technology"...Face ID matches against depth information, which isn’t found in print or 2D digital photographs. It's designed to protect against spoofing by masks or other techniques through the use of sophisticated anti-spoofing neural networks. Face ID is even attention-aware. It recognizes if your eyes are open and looking towards the device. This makes it more difficult for someone to unlock your iPhone without your knowledge (such as when you are sleeping)..."
