True. Nothing good happening. Nothing worse than 166-170 happening either.
Apart from those random days when AAPL jumps $3-$4 (probably Apple buying) while the rest of the market is flat, I don't see any catalyst until ER. Only other exception is a run-up to ER in hopes for a blowout quarter.

In response to your estimate of AAPL at 10-15% above 170 in Feb, I had said I believe in the same range and have already picked up 100 calls of Feb 2018 190. I'm running red on those for now but am quite confident that I will at least break even when I get out after ER. If the price falls under $1, I might double up and pick up 100 more to bring my average to half. Also picked up these: 80 Jun 2018 200 70 Jan 2019 175 Also been holding on to these: 10 Jan 2018 150 50 Feb 2018 150 Last month, I sold the 60 Nov 155s that I was riding for free for a total profit of $102,000. That was my best trade (realized) so far this year. Need more like that one.

Thanks for the reference, Since84. PED posted a free video of this conversation: Tim Cook defends Apple’s China policy (video)I believe that some of this same approach could also benefit the widening political estrangement in our own country. Note, I am not taking sides here, just voicing what is becoming the consensus about the locked horns status of current political discourse.

I guess that works if you get them for a good price....they don't have to be worth too much to make a nice return. Just looking for ideas. To me, if expecting things to stay flat for a bit, I don't want that time premium eating away. A spread in or at the money should balance that, with the time premium shrinkage working in your favor. I'd consider a 160-170, especially on another dip down to 167-168. Likely either a Jan or Feb. Those would probably be around $6, so a potential 66% gain if maxed out, or 30-40% if selling early in the 170-175 range. OTOH, a Feb 170-185 could be to my liking too. I'm guessing it would be about $5.7-6 when around 170, to give a 150% gain potential. That's a little tougher, but could be a FUN little gamble (more that than an investment). Going lower risk, I could see buying ITM or ATM spreads at a few expirations from now until June, with the caveat of being careful about the short side being called early for the dividend. Ahhh, just being long on the stock is so much easier sometimes.

Ahhh, just being long on the stock is so much easier sometimes. Fixed it for you, 4aapl. [img style="max-width:100%;" alt=" " class="smile" src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png"] But Lucky, I said it was FUN! Plus, there's that whole "easy money" thing. (As Blue used to say about learning options and talking to an options trader on the floor, "So, if you know where the stock was going, how much could you make?" "Unlimited!" Ahhh, the good old days where 300% gains were easy money, a some people (what's up, Doc?) occasionally made 1000% on a single trade) No rec for me (The parent-in-laws were just visiting, for one of their 70ths along with a retirement, plus a new grandkid was born (not on our branch). But Grandpa was ready to head off to the casino's. Instead, I gave him a couple Scotch's (Thanks JMP) to try, and he continued reading his book...plus some of the "Mania's, Panics and Crashes" that I am reading. Tulip Mania, plus details on Milken (one of our town's Billionaires)....good stuff. And just in time for Bitcoin comparisons.)
