Cynic's view: To advertise Made in USA initiative, keep hinting about Apple TV something or other
Don't forget, even SJ interviewed with Brian Williams 6 years ago. "Why?" Nothing Apple really needed to tease or prove in 2005 or whatever. It was still boom times.

How about that "no name calling" rule? 8 in one post! Ya know, I did have that thought right after I hit the post button. I'm gonna have to put myself in timeout!

That means nothing if the WH does not playball. And they won't since they are in a position of strength. The Rs have much more to lose if they compromise so they will stay in DC as we go over the cliff. Obama will go play golf and everyone will be upset at DC. Unless the Rs want to lose their seats they will not agree to a raise in taxes. The cliff has to happen so they can negotiate the cuts in taxes not the increases. The talk about staying in town is just PR moves. Nothing else.

Finally watched the Rock Center interview. Would have rather TC not done it. I fail to see what purpose it served. I agree. Ironically, that interview was a classic example of "going backwards in time by 20 to 30 years." The old model, honed by 60 Minutes over the years, of starting out with an agenda, and then editing a long interview to carve it into clips that fit that agenda. I've never understood why anyone would do an interview with 60 Minutes, or any similar program, unless the producers agreed to publish the interview in its entirety, uncut. So 20th Century. In the future, Cook should find a friendly Web-based interviewer and put the interview online. Why NBC? I'd never even heard of that show until it was mentioned in relation to the Cook interview. Can't get very good ratings. Come to think of it, I wonder why Cook didn't pick the much better rated 60 Minutes instead of Rock Center. Not like it could have been any worse? I agree but keep in mind that investors were watching regardless of show. I liked TCs body language and smug smiling like he knows something we don't. It was a way to reassure us. He twice said . Don't bet against Apple. However at this point their is so much margin selling that the damage will take time to be fixed. I also think this interview along with Bloomberg which is 100x better will help keep us above 520. I don't see $650 until after earnings.

How political is this going to get? If the mudslinging starts, I'm going to have company in timeout... I'm going to bed now. Don't go and be doo-doo heads, okay?!

Entertaining how? What's funny about it? You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm a little fucked up maybe, but I'm entertaining how, I mean entertaining like I'm a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I'm here to fuckin' amuse you? What do you mean entertaining, entertaining how? How am I entertaining? Joe Pesci as Tommy DeVito in "Goodfellas", just before he offed the guy.

They will likely lose a chunk of campaign donations if they vote for it though

i work in manufacturing, and not that we are 1% of 1% of an Apple, but we do make fancy products for smart home control, home theater, etc etc. (self plug www.Crestron.com haha). But anyway, I'm in the mechanical design group, and pretty much work from the beginning to the end on product releases, and all the crap that is involved. I would easily bet Apple is at least 10x more efficient in releasing a complete product in a timely manner, but I still can't even imagine turning around a new product every 6 months and phasing it in while managing the supply chain of every part, product, etc. When we do a new touchpanel or something, volumes are in the tens of thousands, and it still seems neverending to get a new product out the door smoothly, after all the certifications, testing, QC, beta, and on and on and on. Doing what I do, I'm already very amazed at the quick turnaround that Apple is able to achieve when launching new products, and how smoothly it all goes. A 6 month turnaround for a significant upgraded product would be unbelievable. However, if any company were able to pull it off, it'd be Apple. Thanks for sharing! Do you think the same headaches would apply if only one or two components were being replaced on an existing device? E.g let's say the SoC & form factor remains the same - but cameras/speakers are upgraded?

I think Tim is the right person to lead Apple in the post-Steve era, but I also believe Steve would never have apologized for the Maps non-issue, he would never have admitted an iTV is on tap, he would not have attended the GS road show in February at Apple (friend to Wall St.), etc. Tim is his own man, but he's also making PR mistakes Apple would not have made previously. Should Tim get the boot, I think Elon Musk would be the best CEO candidate to replace him.

Honestly I am amused at the CEO talk, it is beyond ridiculous. Does anyone think there is someone out there who could manage the supply chain better than Tim? I do not.
I've would be the most appealing, but he would never take it. Honestly, I think Eddie has moved to next in line since he is now labeled the problem solver.

I don't think Ive would want the job, though I think he could lead well...he's a complete package. I like Ive where he is as design leader.
If Cue can patch Siri and Maps _well_, dude's got my vote.
Ain't nothin' wrong with Tim. He's no Steve but he is a massive badass. I've liked his style since the CCs years ago.

I like to see Apple make iPhone with bigger screen size. A lot of buyers prefer a bigger screen. I am not a big app user, but like a bigger screen size to browse the internet. I only really use a handful of apps and browse the internet. Apple should consider making iPhone with different screen size. Apple laptops come with couple of screen size to pick from. So, why not the iPhone? One size fits all does not seem to be a good strategy.

Try an iPhone 5. I think you'll get Apple's thinking very quickly after a week or two of use.
Have-it-all meets compromise too often. The 4-inch display is a good balance.
Big means bulky and harder to use with one hand. The 3.5" display will remain through at least June '14 IMHO (when iPhone 5 (!) will be the "free" phone if the current US subsidy model remains)
If it must/if it sees a better way, Apple will adjust. But only in those two cases.

Mav, bulky and harder to use with one hand is not a big deal for me. Others(lots) feel the same way. The bigger screen is really a nice experience and easier on the eye. Just like the iPad, Apple was a late to the mini. I do feel Apple is making a mistake with the iPhone by ignoring the bigger screen at this point.

Well, a 4" screen _is_ bigger. What exactly do you want? An S III or phablet monster at 4.5-5" display?
It could be you/others want the phone and tablet "together". There seems to be a niche market for that, yes. Apple has deliberately chosen to avoid that market, even as Samsung crafts ripoff Smart Covers for its maxphone, minitab freaks of consumer electronics known as Convergence Gone Wild(tm) (IMHO).

There were no real competitor to the iPod at the time. Samsung and Android are real competitor.
