Here is to AAPL decoupling from FAANG today... Agreed. Some so called journalists out there still want to pair them together. A headline from yesterday read: “Apple and the FANG stocks could lose at least a third of value, market watcher warns” I didn’t include the link as it’s not worth reading imo, but it seems like there are no shortage of people who really want to link Apple to FANG on the way down. I guess we’ll just have to let the earnings speak for themselves.

My aren't we busy this morning Thanks for all the updates and links. I'm cautiously optimistic about this quarterly report. If I were a betting man, I would bet on a nice beat.

Here is to AAPL decoupling from FAANG today... IMHO, this happened a long time ago. AMZN PE 160 FB PE 24 (Was much higher until recently) NFLX PE 140 GOOG 52 AAPL PE 17 I'm completely clueless as to what will happen later today, more concerned with what will happen in the next 3-5 years. Cheers to the longs.

Considering selling some of my other security, TSLA, (yes I'm diversified ) to buy a few more shares before earnings .... only thing is I'm having a hard time remembering when AAPL had a positive reactions to earnings ... even when there is a nice bump it usually retraces before the market opens the next day ..... just once I'd love to see some 10%+ JUMP like AMZN or some of the other high flyers .... of course as my last post pointed out AAPL is far from a high flyer. In any case, Cheers to the longs ....

In any case, Cheers to the longs .... If you just want to capture the positive reaction to earnings, you might consider synthetic stock. I am not an expert, but if you sell an ATM put and buy an ATM call, you get the capital gain (or loss) without having to give up your other positions. You don't get the dividend, but if you do it with a LEAP, you reduce your risk of trying to time the market too much. The best part of this is that the cost of the call is offset by the money you receive for the put, so your net cost can be close to zero. I have been thinking about doing this for a while, especially with the January 2020 leaps. Good luck

If we get my 2.30 eps and actually beat their 53.5 billlion guidance, I think Aapl will reach 1 trillion tomorrow.
Most likely scenario is an eps of 2.24 with an initial bounce of 4% and then settle to 3% when we close tomorrow.
Don’t see a sell off given the option OI for this week and the way we are trading today.
We will find out in an hour.

I can't find the Street's guidance estimate that Apple supposedly beat with $60-$62B? Aaaand CNBC will never ever change. Find the one Apple bear bozo and put him on. If it bears it airs! This dumbf--- was actually comparing Apple to RIM. Apple is who killed RIM! "Apple could lose 30% of its base!". How long have they been saying this shit? Ratings of a late night infomercial, but they never learn. You can't win with these assholes. "Nobody will buy the $1000 iPhone X! GM's doomed!" Then iPhone X dominates, "high ASP's are unsustainable!". How long have the bozos been saying we need a cheap iPhone, as Apple has taken 99% of the profits from the sector? I remember on the original AFB a lot of those Braeburn geniuses were calling for a cheaper iPhone. The problem is in this instant news cycle is there is no accountability. Shouldn't that Bear Bozo have HIS ESTIMATES running below him on the chyron as Apple announces?

A new ATH would be nice, even if it is after hours... I think we open (and have Artman post a close) ATH tomorrow. And thanks for admitting Guy Adami that if anyone had listened to you on Apple we'd all be millions poorer. I know a lot of people like to give Munster $#!t, but I like Gene. Any time he talks you should listen. Dan Nathan, always wrong, but never in doubt. And turning off CNBC for another 90 days...

I will give Adami credit, in that at least he'll admit he's not omniscient unlike that dumbass always-wrong-but-never-in-doubt Nathan (currently criticizing a cap gains cut on Twitter - a guy on a show that caters to the the investment class against a cap gains cut). Dan Nathan warns, high end phones "saturated." LOL saturated. Because people only buy phones once. Porsche 911 market saturated (introduced in 1963)! Dumb! Adami did mention Apple's P/E (which apparently he just discovered is below the freaking S&P 500 average P/E! and priced like Sears should be) will expand by 2020. His lips to God's ears.
But dumb Karen Fineman just called AAPL expensive. The S&P 500 average P/E is 24.4! Apple's is like 19!
This dummy Kevin whatever saying iPhone can't keep it's ASPs up and margins are going to go down. Apple being an expensive product is what makes it appealing in China! Again with the commodization nonsense.
What did Munster say was going to double or triple again? Was that services revs, or the stock?
When is the next split Tim? Even Karen Fineman is too dumb to look up P/Es!
OK no more CNBC for me.

Here's a note I made to myself July 25th: Everyone on the CNBC Halftime Report panel talking up and saying they own Facebook over the other FANGS.
The best FANG stock to own etc.
Boom, Facebook announced disappointing earnings and terrible guidance after the bell - down 20% after hours.
Talk about getting it wrong, WOW!!!!
If Apple can deliver on earnings 7/31 this could facilitate a rotation out of FANG into Apple.
So cool it turned out as it has.
Hello fund mangers, time to up your ownership in aapl!
Congrats to the longs
