His may be the best commencement speech I've ever heard. Certainly the most memorable.

Well as I suspect Trump caved on Tariffs. It was signaled early last week and confirmed just before futures were open. SPY at 280+ will happen. However I think we will see a sell on news by middle of the week, with a much bigger drop after GDP comes out. aapl has not rebounded but could make a run for 175 tomorrow. Turley Mulle's report is very good. financial-alchemist.blogspot.com/2019/02/visualizing-longer-smartphone.htmlThe only issue I have with it is that it only reflects US market with is only 40% of iPhone sales. I suspect the replacement cycle in the rest of the world is much longer.

That's so harsh, zzmac. That report was *very* enlightening and, in fact, I found that last sentence very wise: "So while Apple may have periods of weak iPhone revenue resulting from soft upgrades, there will be periods when upgrades rebound generating strong iPhone sales." And actually, I believe Turley Muller may have stolen the *concept* of that last sentence from our own longtime AFB member, 4aapl, and just rearranged the order of things. The sentence that 4aapl included in one of his previous posts was so meaningful to me, I decided then and there to add it to my signature line. And that statement was: " While AAPL could keep climbing from here, I'd more expect a modest pullback, sometime". What I did, and do, appreciate about 4aapl's statement is that it has the advantage of *never* being incorrect. The pullback may not happen next week, or in June (Hi, sponge!)...but it will happen *sometime*. That's pure genius! 😀 Now that johnny-come-lately, Turley Mulle, has commandeered 4aapl's winning comment and changed "sometime" to "there will be periods"; so now *he* can never be shown to be mistaken. Shameful and un-American of him. That is, if he *is* an American. Otherwise, just shameful. 😊

His may be the best commencement speech I've ever heard. Certainly the most memorable. SJobs was a great man and I admire him. But IMHO the commencement speech was off the mark in many ways. He got carried away and said things he was expected to say that contradict what he really believed, and certainly did, as evidenced by his life and actions. People act more wisely than they speak, the same as it ever was. I think the commencement speech was when he wasn't true to himself and worried overmuch about what others would think or trying to please others. Cal Newport spoke about the commencement speech in a TED Talk about how following your passion was bad advice. I think this is the one. www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIMu1PGbG-0
