Nice bump up this morning. I don't see any real news, so this potential buyback tell or speculation on next week's event seems likely. AAPL is currently up $4.44. Ahhh, there we go. Yahoo has this, which I didn't see on Apple News: Cramer has Three analysts upgraded for Apple AAPL Thursday ahead of its much-anticipated launch event next week in Cupertino.Citigroup boosted its price target on Apple by $50 to $220 per share with analyst Jim Suva expecting a dividend increase and a $100 billion increase in the company's share buyback plans when it reports second quarter earnings next month. Needham analysts upgraded Apple to "strong buy", with Laura Martin lifting her price target by $45 to $225 and arguing the company is "most likely to prevail in a direct competition between FAANG ecosystems."
"The March 25th event holds significance; however, less so relative to any major surprises as part of the launch of video services, but more so relative to creation of another Services growth driver. With an abundance of predictions on the announcement already widely publicized in the press, we believe the event itself will not be a catalyst," JP Morgan's Samik Chatterjee said. "However, as we look at the opportunity for the announcement to make a material impact on earnings in the future, we are primarily focused on longterm drivers that could set up the video service to establish itself as a strong competitor to Netflix over time."

The wall streeters usually miss technical advancements but they did take notice of the Goldman Sachs credit card and the bill payment app doxo adding Apple Pay to its payment options.

I just think we will give back some later today and tomorrow. Then make a run for 195 again on Monday before we sell off. Will buy weekly puts then.

Looks like AAPL wants to be back over $200 before much longer. Who am I to complain? Nice recovery since the silliness in Nov/Dec. Cheers to the longs.

Courtesy of CNBC this morning:
Needham upgrading Apple to 'strong buy' from 'buy'
Needham upgraded Apple on its valuation survey plus network effects.
"Upgrading AAPL to Strong Buy (from Buy) and raising our price target to $225 (from $180) owing to: a) AAPL's ecosystem value upside; b)conclusions from our proprietary survey data; c) content services AAPL will announce Monday; and d) AAPL's strong Network Effects..."

suppose AAPL *is* overbought and need to take a rest. suppose even that there's a classic sell the news effect next week. so maybe it goes back to 170-175 where it was bopping around for a month or two recently.
how do you go from *that* to AAPL going below $140 by June??! (which you have to assume for your puts not to evaporate)
anyway, clearly I hope you're wrong and it doesn't fall that far (if it even falls)
cheers to the longs!

LOL!
That's the print of the last trade? I didn't even see that (currently showing 195.09) value go by.
Either way, it is impressive to see the volume try to push the price around in the last 15 minutes, dropping 80 cents in 12 minutes. And whether that's a company trying to push it down, automatic systems selling at the end of a big up day, day traders getting out, shorts covering, options balancing, mutuals getting in or out, or whatever....it's still interesting to see.
FWIW, Looking back at my notes on many of the days over the past few months, it turns out that while this was a decent up day, it only made it into the top 5 or 10% for point movement. -10.51 on 10-10-18, then +7.66 on 10-12. -14.74 on 11-2, -8.88 on 11-20, -8.13 on 12-4. +10.34 on 12-26, then -15.73 on 1-3-19, with +10.68 pm 1-30.
I'm sure I missed some, but it is amazing how much more volatile the last 6 months have been. Not that it matters much....just interesting to look at after a pleasant day like today.
Also FWIW, it's interesting to look at the 3 and 5 year charts, and see what happened when the RSI got to 80. Surprisingly, not too much happened. Twice there were moves down of about 10 points within about a month, when AAPL was around 140 or 150. We did have this drop and partial recovery over the past 6 months, but that was delayed by a couple months from the RSI hitting 80. And then the other times it just stuck around the same price for a while, stuck in a range. Not what I was expecting to see...and also not a good reason to be super-bearish. Instead, absent of outside influencers (trade war and product announcements), it seems like the safer bet based on the past 5 years would be of a cooling off period, rather than a big move positive or negative. That, after the RSI stays above 70 for a month, giving likely continued positive movement. Something about making a friend of the trend.
...but I'm just continuing to hold. I bought a little more a few months back, and it's nice to see it positive now. RSI and moving averages are interesting to watch sometimes, but I'm not trading on them these days.

I've started to lighten up my holdings yesterday and today. I've done very well buying under RSI 30 and selling above RSI 70...
