Meanwhile Apple continues to rack up record profits and revenue. Yes it's expensive but it's not for the masses, they don't expect this to be a "Amazon Best Seller" ... the Mac Pro and the $5,000 monitor are for the professionals out there who value function and speed more than cost. If it helps people be more productive many feel the cost is worth it ... can you find any other monitors that size which can easily be put into various positions? I've heard a lot complaining from people this week about the Mac Pro .... all from people who have no business buying a mac pro .... I tell them all it won't help you post on facebook .... not every product is aimed at the mass market. Another very important thing is that all this innovation will eventually find it's way into more consumer friendly products that Apple makes. Apple keeps making the best stuff out there and that is what I want to see from this company. Cheers to the longs ....

It's funny how Mav is lambasting that "OMG Apple products are too expensive because rich guys" nonsense article by tweeting pics of Jobs' big expensive yacht - and who agrees with it. Steve Jobs' pet project, the Apple Lisa, shipped for $9,995 in 1983 - over $25,000 in 2019 dollars.

It’s also funny that a SoCal conservative stalwart and a Massachusetts flaming liberal feel the same about that 😉

Just another hit whore imo or maybe he (and you sponge, sorry) just don't get Apple. Here's what he says his main point is: "In my view, the main issue is that Apple — now run by a core team of executives who make millions of dollars each year — has become insensitive to the fact that its products are commonly purchased by people who view $159 AirPods as luxuries." Whether they are "sensitive" to who is purchasing their product I have no idea but they are definitely knowledgable at to who is purchasing their product. I totally agree with the thought of viewing AirPods @ $159.00 as a luxury. The part that he doesn't seem to get is that for a mere $159.00 I'm able to acquire a luxury good. I'd say the same of that supercomputer that lives in my pocket and makes phone calls. It's really about how one views the world in the end but I'm totally thrilled he's categorizing a $159.00 product as a luxury good. .

Two for myself after losing one and replacing the same right ear. The other two pair for the family. We choose to buy these accessories instead of upgrading iPhones. I consider them luxury items given that I can get blue tooth units for $35 instead. Millions who can afford $159 headphones are following a similar buying pattern.. But Apple selling three pair of headphones to a very unique user group still does not make up for one iPhone upgrade let alone 4 upgrades. That sales pattern is playing itself out with millions of other Apple users. Thus we have seen in quarterly reports iPhone share of sales is dropping as a percentage of overall sales and accessories is growing. Yet sales, net income, and eps are down YOY. I believe that high prices are responsible for this shift. The world and US are in the midst of much stronger economies then 2007 when the original iPhone was sold at $600. This was when most people got their cell phones for free. What happens when things slow down and they are right now. Financing thru monthly payments will keep the party going, but despite this over two years unit numbers are dropping. The stand was just an example of how out of touch Apple has become. Yes as a Pro user that Screen would be awesome for my business. But why spend an extra grand on a stand, when I could use that money for other business needs.

In aapl stock analysis I looked at some data. It appears we may actually get over 200 this week. If we do, I think we will stall into OE in two weeks then will see the next leg up into 210 range. The SPY shows that it wants to make ATH by the time we hit July 4th weekend. I think chances are good that some sort of compromise on the tariffs issue will come out from the meeting Trump will have with Xi. This will be the catalyst for ATH for the SPY. At one time I saw that in Sept. But it may happen two months early. I don't see aapl at ATH until end of 2021. Once again pay attention to Puts for the SPY in Dec. I still believe we will see a recession by Q2 next year. Futures are green but have given back most of their gains from 3 hours ago. Volume is strong which indicates an increase in volatility. Side note, if I am successful in reading the tea leaves correctly, I will be close to reaching 7 figures in my account. Yes all in three weeks. What will happen to my puts in Dec when I put all that money back to work?

But why spend an extra grand on a stand, when I could use that money for other business needs. You do understand that the monitor is a reference monitor, and isn't made for simply pro users but a certain type of pro user? That's it's competitors are between 8 and $20,000? Sure, some others might buy the monitor itself anyway who don't need it or don't care if they do, but that would be only because it's so cheap! There are likely few people buying the monitor who won't be bolting it to it's built-in VESA mount. The stand is an ultra low-volume purchase that no one who cares about how much it costs will be buying. It's a non-issue.

On SwiftUI, the more I think about it the more exciting it is. I'm not a developer, and it remains to be seen if the combination of Catalyst and SwiftUI will succeed in any case. Though many will tell you cross-platform development tools are nothing new, a company providing good cross-platform tools for the unique problem of it's own multiple and growing portfolio of wildly popular platforms is new. I think it's historic, or at least will be if they succeed. It's certainly audacious.
IBM's product line under the 360 family was a unified platform. That was the whole point. "Windows everywhere" was for years MS attempt at a unified platform. Azure is just a version of Windows, and that's why it's succeeded. Apple's product line isn't a unified platform, but a unified product line or portfolio of platforms. The API's and SW frameworks and developer tool glue is supposed to help unify the product line without homogenizing it, so you can pick the best tool for a given job. The right tool for the job won't happen if all the developers only have time or energy to develop for the best-selling platform(s). To my knowledge what Apple is attempting has never been done in this way or on this scale. It seems to me it's harder than anything their predecessors have done by a good bit. If it succeeds, and that's a big if, it will strengthen their moat for a long time to come.

Two for myself after losing one and replacing the same right ear. The other two pair for the family. We choose to buy these accessories instead of upgrading iPhones. I consider them luxury items given that I can get blue tooth units for $35 instead. And yet you paid $124 *more* to buy an Apple product. It sounds like Apple is doing the right thing with their pricing. Millions who can afford $159 headphones are following a similar buying pattern.. But Apple selling three pair of headphones to a very unique user group still does not make up for one iPhone upgrade let alone 4 upgrades. That sales pattern is playing itself out with millions of other Apple users. This was when most people got their cell phones for free. What happens when things slow down and they are right now. Financing thru monthly payments will keep the party going, but despite this over two years unit numbers are dropping. My wife and I bought new iPhones last October. I chose a Xs Max with 512GB of memory for $1349. I just looked at an online ad for a Samsung 10 with 512GB. Xfinity mobile will sell you one for $1149 *and* give you a $250 prepaid card as long as you activate a new line, and keep your number. So I paid $200 more for my iPhone, didn't have to jump through that particular hoop and ended up with an Apple product instead of a Samesung. The stand was just an example of how out of touch Apple has become. Yes as a Pro user that Screen would be awesome for my business. But why spend an extra grand on a stand, when I could use that money for other business needs. If you don't understand why someone who would want to buy a Mac Pro with the display would also want the stand, you really should take another look at the Pro Display XDR section at the Apple site: www.apple.com/pro-display-xdr/Note: Please pay close attention when they show the *features* of the stand.
