Okay, let's get this party started. The drinks are on me, I'll be serving green today for as long as it'll last. Markets & Apple starting out great today, I think last nights primary results have created some confidence that maybe we aren’t moving toward European style socialism after all.

Nice to see some green - the voters have spoken - As a Californian, I'd love to see my taxes go down for once - the trump "cuts" actually raised taxes on high net worth / income tax payers in CA - grrr.. I will however give credit to the trump administration for the repatriated cash policy - which has been a large driver for apple shares.
I have so much respect for Tim Cook - not only juggling a huge global brand / enterprise / supply chain, also dancing in the murky waters of international political relations, both home in the U.S. and abroad with China.
Say what you will about politics, Tim has managed to delicately do the dance in both countries to keep the markets open and friendly to AAPL and it's products and ecosystem. Not a small or simple task. Re. the Wall Street Journal article yesterday, I didn't even have to read it - yes, TC made a big commitment to China, but it's hard to imaging the success of AAPL without both the market for our products there, and also for the manufacturing skills, workforce, and industrious people there.
It's quite marvelous - also witness the speed with which TSLA's newest giga factory is already up and running in China, cranking out model 3s - in basically 12 months - just incredible.
Here's to clearer skies ahead for all of us, and especially good health for us all - WASH your hands!

It would be great if we could get and stay above the 50 day MA ($306.77) by the end of the week. Plus there is a gap to fill from last week. ($310). Maybe yes, maybe no?

My understanding is they’re paying the overseas tax bill on the installment option. Fungible money, some/much that is already short term invested in US instruments. The Treasury didn’t get the huge upfront benefit as the PR would have us believe. By the time all is accounted for, Apple will have earned much of their tax bill from those investments.
Edit: From a previous post... Why does Apple want to issue $7B in bonds? To basically maintain debt at $100B, so they can go cash neutral while maintaining a $100B in cash - as a war chest. They’re in no hurry to pay the overseas tax ahead of their installment plan requirements. (They’re making money keeping those amounts invested until the required payment tranche. Oh, and the interest on the new $7B after tax benefits is essentially paid for with their investment proceeds. “Free money (and chicks for free).”

• Years 1-5 — 8% of the tax • Year 6—15% of the tax • Year 7—20% of the tax • Year 8—25% of the tax

I don't see how Sanders losing did anything to the (stock) markets because the betting markets gave him little chance of winning the general. Maybe the two markets aren't of the same mind. I think Tim has done a decent WRT job China (jury is still out), but his lobbying for more H1B's could end up backfiring PR wise. I also don't see why the hell Apple doesn't just eliminate class actions once and for all like every other consumer tech company. It's not getting good "we love our customers" PR from all of the lawsuits, and it's costing real money. Apple will pay up to $500 million to settle iPhone lawsuitAnd the reality is, class actions are just a boon to lawyers. Just complete bullshit. Force arbitration already, Tim! Can someone give me one good reason how allowing class actions is helping our company? $93 million to fucking lawyers!
