Yes, continuing the run - our PE is currently 27 so you can argue we are ahead or ourselves, or.... finally getting re-rated by the market to compare more fairly with MSFT (31) -
Cramer on CNBC just said, he thinks it is anticipation of the 5G rollout - which everyone knows is coming and will likely be huge and big driver of a phone upgrade cycle.
congrats Longs

If instead one looks forward, thinking that Apple is doing pretty well in these last 4 months and so should really do well once things are cleared even more and new products act as a catalyst, a jump could get considered. But I'm with you on this, wondering if AAPL is suddenly going to be priced with a trailing P/E of 30!!!! (Ahhhh,. if feels like just yesterday that it had a P/E of 60, all while also being lower against other tech companies. It's the Apple affect, which doesn't have a good company analogy that I have found, but would be like if JNJ was the big monster that everyone used, Clorox was the tiny underdog that some loved but others directed hate at, and Clorox slowly went big with a different product line. Hidden Ranch is coming for you! It's just so good!) The other big number out there that is fun to use, but shouldn't really drive it, is the $2T figure. Using values from a day or two ago, figuring Apple repurchases 5% a year, and that it takes 2 years to get there, it would take a 48% rise in stock price, or an annualized gain of 22%. A recalc would be needed, but that would put AAPL at $480-510 or so. Wow, $350 and beyond. Congrats everyone, especially to those that added a few shares in this recent huge dip, and held on to them.

From the comments section: There's just so much hate there. Why? Did anyone expect this rush? A bounce back to $270 or even $300 could be guessed at or even seen. But $310, $320, $330, $340, and now $350? Even without outside forces, it seemed to me that AAPL was ahead of itself at the start of the year when nearing $330, so I really didn't think we'd be seeing and exceeding 100% of that level so quickly. But back to the analysts, this is all new territory, when the P/E range changes. News is sparse, so at best a change here is based on rumors, even if they might be more factual based as we approach WWDC, and iPhone rev production. OTOH, maybe someone big decided to pick up a little AAPL, another 5% owner in the mix. More likely it's a tech play, with QQQ hitting new ATHs, and the likes of AMZN, GOOG, TSLA and MSFT also going up while the broader S&P goes down a little. With those in mind, this isn't just an Apple thing. It is a nice boost to have, and even more solid if not due to outside guesses. Enjoy it!

Let’s keep politics out of the daily thread. I don’t see how that was political. There have been various comments both here and quoting PED about the amicable relationship between them, such as recent articles about their joint visit to the Apple factory in Texas, despite Tim choosing not to join the Advisory Council. I would have expressed the same hope whoever was President. I have often lamented in the past leakage from the Dungeon into the daily thread, and I defy you to find a single political post from me.

Let’s keep politics out of the daily thread. I don't see inappropriate "politics" in that post at all, hyci004. What am I missing? The subject is Apple's validation and testing of 5G iPhones, with a concluding nod to the idea that Tim's relationship with Trump is apparently pretty decent, according to many online articles. There's also the consideration that I don't remember *ever* seeing a post or a like from chinacat over in the bleak environment of the Dungeon. I'm not saying he doesn't have a political opinion because I would hope that all of us have a political opinion, as good citizens. I'm just saying I've never seen it in an AFB post. Why Tim Cook made friends with Donald Trump By Russell Brandom Nov 20, 2019, 10:43am EST Cook’s strange, transactional relationship has worked out well for AppleFrom the link: ================= But while Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos openly feuds with the president (and Facebook keeps its outreach well below the C-Suite), Cook hasn’t been shy about meeting publicly with Trump. The president has reciprocated, mentioning Cook in dozens of public statements in the three years since he was elected. Beyond public meetings, the two men appear to be in regular contact. Trump boasted about having dinner with Cook as recently as August, and he says he regularly receives direct calls from the man. “Tim Cook calls Donald Trump directly,” Trump told reporters in August. “That’s why he’s a great executive because he calls me, and others don’t.” ================= That relationship has paid off immensely for Apple. The company entered 2017 with more than $230 billion in offshore holdings, waiting for a Republican president to lower corporate taxes so it could be brought into the US at a substantially lower rate. At the same time, Trump’s trade war with China could have had devastating consequences for Apple, which relies more on Chinese manufacturing than any other US tech companies. In both cases, Apple has emerged with exactly what it wanted by appealing to the narrow, transactional politics that have become Trump’s trademark. It’s an ugly deal in many ways, but one that has worked out very well for Apple.

FWIW, the greater Phoenix area has been a hotbed for semiconductor fabs for ages, trying to push the name "Silicon Desert" when many places were trying to latch onto the "Silicon Valley" moniker. I worked out there at Motorola, with part splitting off into On Semiconductor, for a couple years right out of college. At the time they had 8 locations there, I believe. Intel was also big. Between the 2, there were lots of us in our respective engineering groups.
I'm sure some things have changed over the years, but a few years back that was where the quartz screen company was. It's always helpful to tap into a good existing market, if looking for on-site employees that already have plenty of experience. While Motorola and Intel were grabbing many Chemical Engineers and the like from all over the country back then, we all still needed plenty of experience in the direct field.
Given that it's still a high tech field, and it makes sense strategically to have some things like this based in the US, I imagine there will be help available if that is what's needed.

This Yahoo article gives some extra info on the Fed planning to keep interest rates low for the next 2.5 years, including the dot chart that shows only one member is thinking they'll need to be raised in 2 years. finance.yahoo.com/news/fed-fomc-monetary-policy-decision-june-2020-133528214.htmlOf course there's a lot of blind guesses there, as it depends on how things go, and no one knows with certainty how this will play out. That said, their longer term aim of inflation at 2%, and the plan to keep rates down while the economy recovers and unemployment lowers, shows their general goals while the actual rates might vary based on those goals. Nice move AAPL! RSI just bopped up to 80. History shows that can last for a bit, but isn't likely to last forever. Still, while it could shrink via a retrace, it could also happen just by staying flat for a bit, or even just slowing down. It's something to watch, but there's no one thing that consistently tells what will happen tomorrow, let alone a couple weeks from now. stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=AAPL&p=D&yr=3&mn=0&dy=0&id=p13827046851
