Apple Chipmaker TSMC Raises Outlook in Sign of Tech’s ResilienceTSMC executives also affirmed plans to build a plant in Arizona, saying that the U.S. administration and the state of Arizona closed the cost gap for building the fab. The company had previously said the $12 billion facility will begin construction in 2021, with production targeted to begin in 2024. So the Trump Admin has told TSMC, dump Huawei - essentially a Chinese government front organization masquerading as an independent company that is a huge national security risk - and we'll subsidize a US foundry for you to make Apple's new chips (basically all of Intel's old Apple business in exchange for Huawei's razor margin crap). Now Apple chips will be both designed and made in the USA by American workers (unless Biden wins and re-opens the flood gates for H1B's):
LOL that Biden would be good for Apple, PED. Never heard of this Samik Chatterjee character, but even he can't provide a single specific example of how Biden would help Apple (whom Trump has gone out of his way to protect from his tariffs).
So Dementia Joe coming in and changing to God only knows what on current China policies would "lead to a more predictable operating environment"?!
But raising Apple's tax rate would be so awesome for the company and its investors!
As an investor, I'll trade the "(un)predictable operating environment" of Making American Foundries Great Again for maintaining a low corporate tax rate.
A win-win for all Americans*.
*Unless your son Hunter needs a lucrative job in China.

Do you really think your political musings will help AFB continue to be an important source of Apple/AAPL related news and conversation between interested investors? Most members come here for current news and thoughts about Apple/AAPL and not for political harangues. It also shouldn't come as a surprise to you that many AFB members don't share your political views and it would be to the detriment of all of us to have those disagreements predominant in the daily or weekend threads. 1. This is such an old and trite game on AFB.
1) Someone here posts a nakedly partisan comment ("PED has J.P. Morgan: Apple would be a prime beneficiary of a Biden victory."). 2) I respond in kind. 3) Democratic response: "Partisan and divisive!" It's like the BLM nuts burning cities down, Then Trump tweets "law and order!" Dems: "OMG Trump is divisive!" So what's the rule? Only moderators can post partisan comments but we peasants have to just sit back and eat our broccoli?
One would think that trade policy and corporate taxes affect us all, but apparently only some people here are allowed to discuss such things.

At the risk of escalation, I was taken to the woodshed more than once for "political" posts outside of the dungeon. Being slammed and lectured by a mod in PM. Posts deleted or moved. For posts a lot less "political" that I have seen in the last few days. Your posts have not been treated the same way at all. Yours are pro-Trump. Mine were the opposite. Wonder why yours are allowed to stand and mine were not?

JD, you would definitely have a legitimate complaint if suddenly a PED link got posted to AFB *just because* the link contained a positive word about Biden; but PED links on AFB are pretty common these days and hardly a day goes by without one. OTOH, if a link was posted from The Lincoln Project saying, "Apple would be a prime beneficiary of a Biden victory", I'd certainly understand why that would consider it to be totally political bullshit coming from a political source. But Dementia Joe? A post referring to Trump as Drumpf, "Cadet Bone Spurs" or Trumplethinskin probably wouldn't sit well with you...and actually, only 5 of the 6 comments referred to Biden. Saying, "But raising Apple's tax rate would be so awesome for the company and its investors!" is a legitimate opinion and fits nicely on AFB daily or weekend threads. Dementia Joe or Cadet Bone Spurs, not so much.

1) Someone here posts a nakedly partisan comment ("PED has J.P. Morgan: Apple would be a prime beneficiary of a Biden victory."). Just to be clear, whom are you calling “nakedly partisan” - me, PED, or J.P. Morgan? I can’t speak for the others, but coming from you I consider it a compliment.

A thought: fewer or even no PED re-post here. Certainly no re-post of the comments. Subscribe to PED for real-time access or read after x hours. Bookmark it.

Have you ever considered starting the intraday thread yourself? It’s fairly easy and very rewarding. If you contact one of the mods I know that they would be very helpful. Give it a try, ya might enjoy it.

Why should his column be any different than the many others that get quoted here? 2. I am pretty certain that he is at least an occasional reader here.

It can spawn further discussion. The comments are another matter. I find no value in them, but if others do, then what is the harm?

Well, unfortunately, not all of us have the insight and writing acumen to post the well-reasoned and enlightening Apple-related commentary as you display above.

PED it should be always remembered made Andy Zaky famous and he cost his subscribers and investors literally 100's of millions of dollars. If it weren't for PED no one would have heard of him. Anything you read is suspect.

PED it should be always remembered made Andy Zaky famous and he cost his subscribers and investors literally 100's of millions of dollars. If it weren't for PED no one would have heard of him. Anything you read is suspect. Huh? I guess I have a hard time, no matter how silver tongued someone might be, being able to completely blame someone else for a loss. Personally, I would much rather that someone writing about a stock have some skin in the game, bullish or bearish, than often see the "this person has no position in any of the stocks mentioned in this article". It's good to mention the rough interest (bullish or bearish) in the stock, but I'd take that. I guess it all depends on how you feel about "talking your book". There can be a conflict of interest. But, I feel in general people with skin in the game have more in depth knowledge of a particular company than those that don't. Anyways, we still have a few months here in this year's round of the political season. Frankly, when the moderators talked about in 10-12 months ago, I thought all would go to hell here long before this. And this is just a minor kerfuffle, with what was pointed out as 5 of JD's 6 points being in-kind replies. Thanks everyone, for doing so well up to this point. And thanks for your continued attempts at keeping non-AAPL political stuff out of the daily thread. Minor things will come up from time to time, and though we can try to limit those, we can also work through them without getting a bee in our bonnet. Chill a bit. These next few months could sink this place if we let it. Instead, if we find value in this place, lets keep it together. And if anyone doesn't find value in this place, take a short or long break. Thanks all!
