Ugh, a diversity hire on the Board. Get Woke, Go Broke. Running a far-left Hispanic magazine qualifies you to be on the board of the world's foremost tech company?
Ugh. Just ugh.

Being a far-right douche qualifies you to be on this board of the world's foremost tech company? Ugh. Just ugh.?Edit. ...really necessary in the intraday?

So a contract car manufacturer seems to exist. I was wrong about that. It sounded like they weren't just a contract car manufacturer, but potentially an end to end solution (design and build). There's been a lot of consolidation in the last few years, and companies dropping car lines. Much like Tesla moving into the NUMI plant (we used to live a few blocks away), I'd think yet another way would be to buy or lease a shuttered plant somewhere. Unlike NUMI that was shuttered for years (a decade?), buying one that just got dropped could have current technology, or just be ready for it. But that's if wanting to own and do everything. Better would be partnering with one of the majors if they don't see you as a threat, such as going after a different segment. But Magna, letting it do whatever portion you don't want, could be good. Especially since I was thinking another option was buying out a small firm like Fisker, before seeing them called out in this story as having worked with Magna. Cars are often much more user and usage specific than anything else Apple makes, and a whole different price point. It will be interesting to see what comes of this in the next 5-10 years, or even what doesn't happen.

It’s a great feeling to invest in a company that promotes the values most of us believe in. Thumbs up for Tim and co. 😁

That isn't a qualification to govern the biggest tech company on earth. And yes I guess you could say I am insecure when my largest investment is hiring based on identity politics instead of merit. But troll? Words hurt.

JD, You have no evidence at all to support your statement that "she was hired because she is a female Hispanic". You have previously stated that you had thoughts about punching an asian girl in the face because she was wearing a mask (to protect others). Take your hate and racism somewhere else. It doesn't belong on this board (or anywhere else).

Aaplsauce, while looking back at your past 24 posts I spotted many that were filled with hate speech and some that were very insulting and upsetting. I find it difficult to understand how you, of all people, are in anyway qualified to point a finger of condemnation at anyone and demand that they leave this board. Perhaps if you were to make a few more meaningful contributions to the discussion or even start a new thread where you could express your superior intellect and opinions then we all could perhaps benefit. Just a suggestion.

It doesn't belong on this board (or anywhere else). I've read Lozano's entire resume. And I can say that if I, a white male, applied to Apple for an entry level job with her CV, I would not be hired. Let alone get on the Board. Dude, she was an editor of a free, Spanish language newspaper. She has no tech background whatsoever.
You have to understand something. We conservatives know that any disagreement with you on identity politics, or anything else, and you'll call us racist. You use a word that is supposed to be the worst thing in the world as a hammer, not a scalpel. So we LAUGH at you when you use the word. You have made the word meaningless. If everything is racist, nothing is.

It’s simultaneously hilarious and deeply pathetic. This board would be so much stronger and more vibrant if it didn’t tolerate casual racism and sexism, but for whatever reason it seems to be allowed here. We’ve got an Apple board where even Tim Cook himself wouldn’t want to be a member.

This board would be so much stronger and more vibrant if it didn’t tolerate casual racism and sexism, but for whatever reason it seems to be allowed here. We’ve got an Apple board where even Tim Cook himself wouldn’t want to be a member. After years of having no moderators, we've had to decide what is a good fit here. The first was just to plead for anyone who wanted to be a moderator. We got 5. Since then, 2 have stepped back. FWIW, all 3 remaining have stepped back a bit at times, taking short breaks while we regroup. But, we all try to step back in general. With so much time without a moderator, the guiding path here is self moderation. For anyone who has been in AAPL more than a couple years, not only do we have a similar mindset in at least one aspect, but we also have done fairly well. That's not everything, and as the dungeon will show there are hugely different views on non-AAPL things. But it's a start. OTOH, that is a detriment. I've been invested in AAPL for 23 years now, to varying degrees but mostly (likely always) as my primary position. And yet I have been blindsided multiple times, when I have been too focused on where I think AAPL should go. Sometimes this happened when it got to a number or close to a number, and backed off a little. "Geez, it should be a given that it will get there, plus 10%". It's easy to get that mindset. But I've lost 85% 3 different times. That's huge. But when you get blindsided, it can happen. Maybe not in today's AAPL, with reasonable margin or leverage. Still, it's not something I want anyone to go through. The problem is that if you're around people with similar opinions (ie LT AAPL bulls), how are you going to not see the thing about to T-bone you? Sure, the Apple of today is likely to make it through most things eventually, but it could still take a beating in the shorter term, either with an Apple specific hit, or a economy or marketwide hit. I feel that we want to hear all opinions on AAPL here. Some sound crazy or delusional. Others might not always be said in a way we want to hear. But in life, not all people feel the same way as you, nor say things you always want to hear. As has been said recently, thank you everyone for doing your best at keeping the political stuff to the dungeon. We really appreciate it. We have had to ban many new members lately, but it has been limited to new accounts from overseas posting links to a gambling site. Each active moderator has a different political stance, and a different feeling towards the ways that certain board members present their opinions. It's not easy. But together as a group, this board continues to come together to help each other out by posting AAPL specific info and opinions. For those that are not moderators, remember that you have a special superpower. If someone constantly gets your blood pressure up, you can ignore them. Within Proboards, you can choose to not see their messages. This is an amazing choice, and while it won't let moderators do this, I occasionally used this feature back on TMF. It helps, if you really are to the point where you don't want to see posts from a certain member. Some use it here, especially for verbose posters in the Dungeon, with great success. Thanks everyone, for all of your amazing contributions over the years. While I don't agree with all of them, and even sometimes take offense at least at first blush, these all come together to make the board what it is. And that is one that works together, through self moderation, while trying to work together towards a common goal but also occasionally not being entirely PC.

Two posts outright insulting and slandering me and you do nothing but contemplate the meaning of life and moderation? What would it take to get a post deleted by a mod? A death threat?

What exactly, would you say you do here? Two posts outright insulting and slandering me and you do nothing but contemplate the meaning of life and moderation? What would it take to get a post deleted by a mod? A death threat? I don't do much. I suppose I'm just a buffer, one more speed bump on the road. When Since84 recruited us, he gave us some words of advice, and paths taken by LovemyiPad. There were times where she would swiftly move things to the side or delete them. But often she would leave them, to show to all where the true feelings lie, and to let everyone try to improve. I don't have the time or energy to try to get in the middle of everything. Does that mean that I don't get into anything? That sounds good. So instead I'm like an officer directing traffic at a stoplight that is out. I'm trying to keep the peace and keep things moving. And yet I'm more likely to use my whistle than to pull out my gun. Yep, more philosophy than action. JD, I think you are spot on here that it's important to look beyond the demographics and at qualifications. At the same time, there are some benefits of a diverse group that aren't always obvious at first glance. And then there's the whole thing about what exactly the point of a board is, and if they are more a checks and balances for the top few, rather than actually coming up with the next great idea. What qualifications do they need? I don't have answers on this, and everyone has opinions. Like you pointed out, this is one of the very heated areas, and it's good to hear you actually took that into consideration before posting. Many people in other places wouldn't have bothered. Everyone, this is a collaborative place. Cut out the petty name calling. If you really can't manage yourself, bring it to the dungeon, choose to ignore the poster, or just leave. Thanks
