Regarding opening the Daily or Weekend thread…
It is not my intent to assume full responsibility for opening the threads. If I find something of interest in the news and the thread has not yet been opened, then I open it. Please feel free to do the same. Obviously, being in the Eastern time zone gives me a head start, at least among US members. Following the existing conventions for labeling the threads is helpful.
Party on, Garth!

It’s beginning to look a lot like February... Buying opportunities do tend to present themselves. I'm full up for now, though might make some options purchases if this continues. The problem with buying a little extra opportunistically, is really that you need to follow through and sell a little at some point so you're ready for the next wave. If not, you could end up a little more risky than you would prefer. I picked up an extra 5% at 118-120 a couple months ago. On the plus side, the stock is still up from there, so far. (FWIW, a strategy I have been using is to pick up a little extra on margin when there is a big sale, either of AAPL or the S&P, going maybe 5% onto margin. For AAPL I'm looking at dips of something like 15-20%, whereas on the S&P it's more like 8-10%. It's not completely without problems (the dip could be part of a bigger trend, and you still have to sell to reset), but with cheap borrowing rates and an economy that over the very long term continues to point up, it's not too bad nor very risky)

Wow. Ugly day. Just came here to say that the 50 day SMA on the daily chart sits at $126.48. Would sure like to see that hold today and provide some support.

Earnings don't matter to the market. Buybacks don't matter to the market.
The only thing that matters to the market is the narrative.
Right now, the narrative is that Apple did well because of the pandemic. And now that the pandemic is coming to an end, Apple is going to stagnate.

Everything is selling. Not about Apple. Even the gold and silver stocks. large gaps on the QQQ and Apple. So we either have an island top, bad news or a temporary plunge which will then fill the gap before deciding the next move. Amazon the ultimate stay at home stock is down along with GOOG and the other top tech companies. Maybe wall Street is moving more money into bit coins etc.. I read that these "coins" are using more energy than the entire state of NY? what happens when environmentalists wake up? Also governments realize this is costing the economy because everyone is paying an energy tax? plus now the digital "art" is doing the same thing? I think someone will figure this out at some point. In general people like to worry about the wrong things.

Good to hear these are coming to AZ. I know Intel still has sites there, and related things like those single crystal watch faces that Apple was investing in was down there. Motorola used to have 8 sites there, but I don't know how many of those withered over the years, though I see at least a couple of my colleagues from Mot/ONNN are still working in the semiconductor industry in the Phoenix area. Sometimes LinkedIn is helpful! Semiconductor supply is going to stay high on the wall of worry for the next year. Not all companies out there are going to do as well as Apple at dealing with it and being ready.

Half hour to go.
I was wondering if this would be one of those days where some of the big boys start buying in during the last 20-30 minutes of trading. Hoping? No quite, but it would help take a little of the sting off if AAPL went from being off $5.25 to only 3.5 or so.
You just never know. Lots of things are in the air, and thoughts of increases in interest rates aren't a good thing right now. OTOH, while tech in general is down, and a lot of stocks and indexes are down over 1% today, the S&P is off less than 1.5% from it's all time high. Not really a case of everything being in the doldrums, even if it might feel like it today. Likewise, AAPL's P/E is not in the teens but rather the high 20's, even if it's not brushing 40 like we might see in euphoric times.
Volume is up, and the stock is up nearly a buck from the daily low. Looks like that 50 DMA is going to hold through today. Who knows if it will tomorrow, or if the stock will make a quick touch of the value before a bounce.

It would seem in hindsight, i choose wrong days. Today no exception.
Markets on a scare.
Report what AAPL did in the last 2 Qtr’s and most stocks would lift off. Not AAPL
Long run, i could not be more pleased.
And institutional ownership at all time lows, i cannot wrap my ID around that…
No woe is me, just a continuing observation…
