Monday Greetings AAPL Investors: Apple Investor News, "always updating news stream”. Apple warns of magnet risk to pacemakers for most of its major products...appleinsider "The list of magnet-containing devices include iPad products and accessories, the Apple Watch and accessories, AirPods and charging cases, HomePod, Macs, MacBooks, and some Beats products." Apple’s TV service faces its biggest test yet as free trials run out...CNBC “Apple’s not in a position of strength here,” Moffett Nathanson’s Michael Nathanson said. “Although they have some excellent shows, they lack the scale of new releases, tentpole titles and a deep library to really create a large profitable business at this point.” I disagree. For $5 a month, I'm in.

"“Apple’s not in a position of strength here,” " To access Apple tv on my LG OLED smart TV I have to go to the Apple TV device, wake it up, it then disconnects my LG external speakers. I then have to log in. Find what I want to watch on my computer on on Apple TV and then watch with no ability to channel check or switch back to Cable TV with speed. To say this is annoying is the best one can do. Apple's hobby according to Steve, is still just that. It can't compete with Netflix which has its own problems. I can't imagine wasting money on Hulu or Peacock. All of these are annoying to me.

135 is a very very important technical level, just like 128 was. I have not been expecting us to close above 135 so easily. It was an impenetrable wall in April, and we haven't closed above 135 since February.
So if we are able to close above 135 today that is very good.

I can't imagine wasting money on Hulu or Peacock. All of these are annoying to me. So how would you do it differently? It's easy to complain about things, but it's harder to design something that works well. One way is for an app on the Smart TV. The problem with that is limited availability of user input (ie typing in a name to search for), plus being tied to the processor and networking of the TV. I still think of a TV as something that you seldom upgrade, whereas an external box is easy to upgrade. We have a Mac Mini connected, and a stereo for the sound. This is with an older stereo without HDMI, so the TV is the hub instead of the stereo. This is only a problem when playing music CDs through the computer or a DVD player, as the TV has to be on. I turned off the password, so that's one less step. And I just have to turn on the stereo. As for fast switching, it's just with the TV input, so I can switch inputs to go back to a TV station if I want. And I have a keyboard and mouse, which is clunky in it's position on top of the subwoofer right under the TV, but does let for fast input. Sometimes we connect other laptops, especially if we need a different Prime account and don't want to log out the main one. Prime through a computer instead of the built in smartTV app works a little better, mainly on typing in addresses, but also in the screen setup when browsing. But personally I think the Prime UI and UX is lacking, in both formats. It would be good to get AppleTV integrated better on the TV, but it might make more sense linking it wirelessly from one of your iDevices than to have a set-top box or a TV app. Aside from eating battery life, that puts the power right in front of you. And many TVs already allow this. But what is your solution? How would you make it better?

4aapl asked:
A receiver works well for this problem. Simply pick the input and it takes care of the rest. Marantz makes a great receiver. Just sayin’.

It was an impenetrable wall in April, and we haven't closed above 135 since February. So if we are able to close above 135 today that is very good. Not quite the $135 close you were looking for. It's hard not to be positive when the stock gains 1 2/3 for the day, though more is always nice. Volume is low too. It would be nice to see that kick up a bit too, but maybe that just waits until somewhere higher. $138? $140? $145? Looks like the small amount of Jan '22 135's I wrote are at their strike. Ballparking it, the premium of ~$10.5 will slowly disappear, whereas it will cost $1.5 in borrowing to hold onto those shares. Net positive. Potential tax changes might make it worthwhile to sell early. One thought would be selling at $140 (for a long term gain), and buying back at $140. When those eventually close, it would be a short term loss of $5, or something like $1.5 after subtracting out the price I took in from the call. At $145 it starts getting more sizable. It's not a huge loss, but if I had other short term gains to offset, it could be beneficial. Even with potentially increased rates, in this case it's probably not enough to move any needle. Still, on gains that will need to be cashed out in the short term anyway, it moves things slightly in the right direction.

4aapl asked: A receiver works well for this problem. Simply pick the input and it takes care of the rest. Marantz makes a great receiver. Just sayin’. Yep, a HDMI receiver should take care of most of it. But that just makes it more complex. Now you have to decide to go with the 5.2 setup, or move up to the 7.2, 9.2, or even 11.2 setup. Ouch www.marantz.com/en-us/product/av-receivers/sr8015?gclid=Cj0KCQjw5uWGBhCTARIsAL70sLJQYIiZH5HFgbN7W_LZQn_G9GKs4C2Ug1O10us6bpOAPQTwBPpcpZcaAgt6EALw_wcBAhhh, it seems like just yesterday that Phoebes was talking about purchasing a huge TV. I can't remember if it was a 75", 80" or 85" TV. Either way, it was a bit pricey back then. I've since been desensitized, with acquaintances with things like an expensive record player where just a replacement needle is $10k. Sometimes it's good selling to the high end. Apple has known that for a bit, even if they have to toe the line between affordable luxuries and mass marketing.

It seems this is a topic where everyone finds their own acceptable solutions. We have a cabin, a home in Minneapolis and a place in Florida. AppleTV is our TV but we have a satellite connection at the cabin which we use to get permission to watch the programming on AppleTV. We run it through receivers in all the locations and it works pretty well for us given that we've no choice but to have internet connections at all three. My daughter and her husband are running it through the YouTube app but lost the Twins in the recent licensing dispute. Seems this is all going to remain a mess for the foreseeable future but the end of the cable and satellite providers is in sight.

I bought my Marantz receiver maybe ten years ago and it has outlasted a room full of Apple products and still does it’s job efficiently. Add a remote from Logitech and you have control of anything plugged into that receiver. Easy pleasey, lemon squeezer. Go for it.

You can see how important these 2 trendlines have been in the last year. Whenever the price touches one of them it gets bounced back. Except for a few trading sessions before Jan earnings when it exceeded the trendline and got swatted down.

"But what is your solution? How would you make it better?" My solution was to start buying songs, movies and TV along time ago. It was to offer free for Apple subscribers all sorts of content that is out of copyright. Organizing same and making it available is a great service like the Guttenberg Project. Apple could buy a network and be on regular cable with all there stuff. Kind of like HBO+. Buying Netflix was something I always advocated. Look at the buybacks VS the purchase of NFLIX which would be better for shareholders? I don't know. But if I wanted to be in the media bus. I would want to be the best at it.

Hopefully when it breaks out of this channel it will do it decisively and continue through the year with a new upward trend.
