Based on my reading of the story, it sounds like a minor production issue. The headline, IMO, makes it appear worse than it is.

My concern is that with the importance of the new chip releases (have I mentioned how zippy our new iMac is? ), production delays cannot be mitigated by alternative purchases; as it was, it took a month longer than promised for delivery of our iMac. As always, In Tim I Trust.

Nice gap down on AMZN and island top on GOOG. If the sellers can take over in August they have charts to support them, why wait until Sept.? But the results of the tech stocks are very + so far. Interesting that Walmart not getting burned by AMZN.

BTW, the Touch ID key on the new keyboard is a great addition.

BTW, the Touch ID key on the new keyboard is a great addition. It is an interesting addition. The keyboard is so small in comparison to one of the old Apple ones I use that has a keypad, but when asking my dad about it he was happy with the small one. How did your migration go? Ours had some problems, but most ended up being our fault. It turns out we had the iMac plugged into the same power strip socket as the light, so when we turned off the light we apparently turned off the power to the computer too...and thus our first attempted migration failed when we checked the next morning, having run it off of a fresh time machine backup. The second attempt worked, but it then had a partial duplication, which wasn't a problem until later when he logged into the half-done account, and had some things, but not everything. We then deleted that account. Other than that, the only problem was with the app store, since he apparently had 2 accounts entered, and it kept asking for the password for the one we didn't know. But eventually I was able to select that one in a menu item and remove it. Given that he was upgrading from a system that was 11 years old or so, to have that be the only problem was pretty good.

The bigger problem (though not really too bad) has been the port migration, e.g. the external drives that we use for Time Machine backups. We got one small converter module at the Apple Store when we picked up the iMac, but at some point we’ll need/want to replace the old devices with ones with the new ports. But the M1 speed is such a joy, especially in comparison with the decayed performance of the old machine.

But the M1 speed is such a joy, especially in comparison with the decayed performance of the old machine. Yep, the switch to USB C. We had bought a 4 pack of converters from Amazon when my wife got her MacBookAir, which is about right for having 1 around at all times. But alas, that exact brand doesn't seem to be on Amazon anymore (aLLreLi, I would have bought it right away, since it worked fine for us). For my parents, we bought a 2 pack of the converters, and then a multi-adapter that has 2 ports plus a HDMI port, and probably a few other things. For big bandwidth things you want the direct port adapter, say for doing a large transfer or backup to a HD. I hadn't thought about that beforehand, but we brought one adapter with us, and the Amazon orders came the next day, so it worked out fine. They also bought a battery backup, since even a little flicker in the power line can take down an iMac, unlike even a well-aged laptop. And to finish it all up, they also bought a large jump drive. We went with a 256gig one, which fit their last 10 years of pictures plus more. I picked the very tiny USB 3.1 one, that's barely larger than a USB port. It can be easy to lose, but it was a little better than the alternates. They sent it with me once filled, so now they have an off-site backup of most everything, all for $30. (EDIT: FWIW, a quick google search found them selling a 5 pack of the adapters for $8, with free shipping, of of their own website. It's usb 3 instead of 3.1, but that doesn't matter much in most instances. And they take ApplePay. www.allreli.com/product/allreli-usb-c-adapter-5-pack/ )
