So… I guess we can expect another solid quarter to be announced tomorrow followed by a sharp 1)rise, or 2)predictable fall?

These Thursday earnings reports are tricky if you have to settle weekly expiring options positions the very next day. But that's where all the premium is. Two days to go and the IV on ATM strikes is about 47%. The implied move by Friday is about $4, which puts us in the 145-153 range. Hard to say if that's a reasonable estimate, or which way it's going. The market seems to have its own way of interpreting AAPL earnings reports, as others here frequently note. My guess is the report will be positive and the market will say, "ho hum."

My cynical expectation is a great quarter and good beats, and a drop back to 140 as a reward

I'm going with up in AH, up some in the first 30 minutes, then easing up or even down for the day. Not knowing options open interest, $150 sounds good.
Alas, not all have Friday off, as it's a state holiday and not a federal one. But we will be celebrating Nevada Day, and it looks like it should be a nice warm day, while working on melting off our 2.5' of snow we got early Monday.
Enjoy! And if you happen to be up for a bowl of chili with the governor and other stately people, listening to a Mark Twain impersonator while overlooking a parade, stop on by Carson City.
