From the Stock app, Seeking Alpha has "Apple said seeing strong iPhone sales gains in China". Digging a little, it's here: seekingalpha.com/news/3773929-apple-said-seeing-strong-iphone-sales-gains-in-chinaFrom JP Morgan, Chatterjee says Apple shipped 10.8M iPhones in China in Oct, up from the 6.1 average for any month, and the most of any month since November 2014 (iPhone 6 supercycle?) It's always hard to know how accurate these things are, while also figuring how time sensitive they are, as a difference of the release date by a week or two could make a big difference. Still, good to hear positive thoughts, which likely helped push AAPL into the green at the end of the day.

So I have an options related question that I can’t seem to get a straight answer to from TD Ameritrade and I realized that you all are probably smarter and might be able to help me.
If I have sold 12/31 calls and my shares get called away, what day does the stock sale take place? On the expiration date or the following day? I need to make sure that my gains are attributed to 2021 and not 2022 when the LT gains could potentially be taxed very differently.

IF I WAS SMARTER THAN THE AVERAGE FELLA, I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT TSLA IN 2010 ON YOUR COMPUTER: click on SUPPORT..... CONTACT THEM BY EMAIL.That is what I do. If the answer you get is not clear to you, then the follow up questionnaire you get from TDAmeritrade one day later is where you complain.

I think the options get closed out, and the underlying stock sells, on the Saturday after expiration. But, things change over time, so it's possible that it's not that way anymore. Someone at TD should be able to help you, but it seems likely you'll want to close out the position early, or move it forward by at least a week. You could probably even do that all as one transaction, using a calendar spread if it has the proper settings (ie buy to close, etc).

If you want to be sure, buy back the options and give up a nickel of gain. If holding period is over a year, it'll still be LTCG.
