A couple weeks ago, we were all stoked by $AAPL @ $175. How easily a new "Anchor Point" takes hold ("Predictably Irrational"), resetting our expectations, while getting us to "Dream a little Dream", or start going Shania with "Up Up Up we only go up from here!". Sometimes I wish the stock weren't so volatile. But Fisher points out that's part of the risk/reward equation, and with less volatility you'd have less gains, even in the long term. Think bonds.

What happened did Cook resign? Re-emergence of the law of large numbers? China take out Foxcon? Invaded Taiwan? -$7 at this minute.

Tapering of Fed free money leading to market deleveraging. The weird part is that it’s kind of a delayed reaction - most people saw this coming after the Fed announcement yesterday but instead there was a temporary bounce that’s now being sold.

I'm not a fan of all the gambling today on memes and crypto and NFT's and other worthless "investments". And I definitely don't want $AAPL thrown into that basket of crap(s). 🎲🎲 I'm all for more retail money coming in, but this crowd seems way too fickle and get rich quick or GTFO.

I just came across some of my notes from old shareholder's meetings. 2002 was the year of the Samsonite question. But more on topic was that at the 2001 meeting, Steve said he received ~100 emails a day from non-apple sources, and "I read every single one of those myself".
Years later, when JMP was having problems with his fancy new MacPro pushing eight 30" Apple displays, SJ got included at some point. The kernel panics ended up being from close serial numbers for the screens, if I recall correctly.
I wouldn't expect a CEO these days to read all of the outside messages coming to them. But 20 years ago, Steve did.

In my opinion, today's reaction has nothing to do with meme trading or crypto. But the "animal spirits" of the market are motivated by the same dynamics of fear and greed. The Fed taking away Wall Street's punch bowl means that the big Wall Street traders have to lighten up their leverage, and reduce their exposure to risk assets (of which AAPL is one). Whether this is a short-term dynamic or a shift that will last longer term remains to be seen.

Just woke up… And again… Wild mood swings…
Still. If we tracked sideways from here for a while I’d be okay with that need some consolidation.

I still need to move a large number of shares out of my IRA's before the end of the year to satisfy my scary 2021 RMD. This recent surge in share price was *greatly* reducing the number of shares I need to move...so I'm sorry, benoir, but I'm afraid that won't be possible. 😂

I kept it short and sweet included a couple of screen grabs. some days letter i Get a call from Corporate Executive Support - in relation to your e-mail to Tim Cook. Well almost fell out my chair, after a brief convo they put me tru to someone "Technical" who told me the Aperture Group would call back, within half an hour was chatting to someone in "The Aperture Group who recognized what my issue was sent me some software and stayed on the line as I installed it: problem solved!!

But 20 years ago, Steve did. I think it was due to the hash clashing. The hash algorithm was deficient for cases of too many multiple monitors (I think he had 7 or 8 in total). (what board were we on when we discussed that problem?)

But 20 years ago, Steve did. I think it was due to the hash clashing. The hash algorithm was deficient for cases of too many multiple monitors (I think he had 7 or 8 in total). (what board were we on when we discussed that problem?) I think it was the Yahoo board, with JMP, Gregg, Blue, AppleDoc, and lots of others that just don't roll off the tongue at the moment. It wasn't just having 8 30" displays, as that is easy enough to test out at Apple when the need arrises. It was the problem of having them very close in their ID number or unique identification value, which would lead to what you are saying that the hash that was used wasn't detailed enough to differentiate, in this particular case. Fun times. That was just after I left Apple, so I had current emails from a lot of people there. Glad they got it fixed. It was always the really tough bugs coming in from the field, that occasionally had way too much information and steps, that were the tough ones. But admittedly, as a young contractor when Apple was about to ship 10.1 or 10.2, I was hitting some kernel panics and got a few people from the team over with me while we worked on it into the night. It was on a prototype G3 tower, and it turned out I had stuck a new memory stick into it recently. It seemed like it was panicing on boot when it got to a certain place, which could change by just a little. In the end, it was a bad stick of ram. Panics happen. Luckily, it's pretty rare, even back with 10.2. Now, something close to 20 years later, the only occasional time I kill my machine is when I have had 80+ tabs open for 1-3 months, and it's been so memory starved for a while that even the virtual memory unload/offload is starting to lag.

This recent surge in share price was *greatly* reducing the number of shares I need to move...so I'm sorry, benoir, but I'm afraid that won't be possible. 😂 What what what! That sounds a lot like trying to time the market That is the downside of donating stock, or contributing stock to a DAF. It's tempting to want to time it right, so that as much as possible gets donated. And then you get into worrying too much about the short term, instead of just sitting back and letting the volatility play itself out. After hearing from a friend that has a lot of her investments in a smaller company that she worked with and was given, I'd consider starting a DAF company just so that there was a rule based way to donate stock into a DAF, but not have it all sold off immediately. We're still a digit or two from it making sense to start our own "Gates Foundation" that would take care of this on a more personalized basis, but it seems like there is room there for something, even if they charged 1% per year instead of 0.6%. Good luck with your timing. Without worrying too much that it would be patting our backs too, I hope you have the pleasure of needing to move a very large number of shares before the end of the year.
