It's a slow news day. But I am not, I repeat not going to post to discuss Horace Dediu linking to a Yahoo China story claiming the Apple car will ship in late 2022. Again, not going to discuss that. And definitely not going to mention hedgie Howard Lindzon tweeting about it. I just have too much regard for the board to do that.

If you guys haven't heard The Babylon Bee's interview with Elon Musk, definitely worth a listen. I found it quite fascinating (and amusing). But one thing really jumped out at me. Musk's idea of neuro implants for paralyzed people to control computers and mobile phones. I hadn't heard of this before, but it definitely fits Musk's strategy of starting off with a pro-social idea and monetizing the F out of it. In other words, paralyzed people today, able-bodied people tomorrow? Really gave me a start about being a logical next step from phone to wearable to...? I know it is far fetched, but sooner or later, something has to replace phones. He started talking about this neuro thing - pretty much unsolicited - after savaging VR as "a TV set on your nose." Hmm. Sadly, the Bee guys didn't follow up and ask him about AR, which is an entirely different thing from VR. But it really had me thinking that he is targeting mobile.
Way too early to call it an "iPhone killer" (should I get banned for even using that expression?). But something to keep on the radar. Musk is the one guy with the resources and popularity to be a threat to any company or industry.
Just to be clear: I am not suggesting that people are going to be lining up at stores in 2022 to have chips implanted in their brains. But there may be some technology that allows an external hardware device to do the same thing (some sort of crown or tiara, in rose gold. Or something that sits on or in the ear). An analogy would be the blood glucose monitoring device that Tim is supposedly testing out these days. But for brain waves. Edit: I hadn't seen the Monkey playing Pong with his brain video. Is this starting to make sense? You check your texts as you walk down the street without holding anything in your hand. And I don't even want to think of the porn implications.

MacWorld has Cores, colors, and lucky 13: How 2022 could be the Mac’s best year ever. Just more confirmation that the Apple silicon revolution is just getting started. The additional level of control this gives Apple over so many aspects of the design and manufacture of their products should make their competitors very, very worried. Yahoo!finance has Apple (AAPL) Set to Start iPhone 13 Manufacturing in India. “AAPL is reportedly planning to mass produce iPhone 13 in India beginning February 2022.” Interesting that they are targeting a year-old model for the initial trial, likely for a couple of reasons - avoiding risk for whatever the new flagship models will be, as well as covering delayed demand/production for this year’s flagship.
