A lot of worry about inflation, and this article is worried that fed increases aren't baked in yet: finance.yahoo.com/news/heres-the-next-terrifying-hurdle-for-the-stock-market-morning-brief-100907371.htmlI thought 2-3 in '22 are now somewhat baked in, not a sure thing but not a surprise. We'll see. The Phillips Curve is based on inflation vs unemployment, using values from the 60's. www.econlib.org/library/Enc/PhillipsCurve.htmlSpending normally keeps the economy going, but I wonder how much of inflation is people spending more in certain areas (take out a lot of travel, and you have to spend it somewhere....if you don't want to save it), and thus supply/demand at that end of the product, as opposed to supply/demand on the production/labor, transportation, or raw materials end. Instead of only going after inflation via interest rates and limiting bond buybacks, it seems there are likely some targets in the product cycle that could be aimed at. Another way is aiming at the money supply via savings. Already we have heard that savings rates are up, but maybe incentivizing saving or debt payoffs would be a way to shrink spending more directly, while giving benefits in the long term. I'm not one for thinking that student loans should be canceled, but especially if government backed it could be a target, giving an incentive of slashing interest in half or even more for portions paid down in the next 2 years. Or delete the interest entirely for all portions above the minimum. More directly, cancel out the last $5k if the rest is paid off. There's got to be some incentive there that would help a bit, in both sucking in the money supply to quell inflation, but also giving a net benefit to the individual. The same could be done with government backed mortgages, incentivizing some early payments. Those might not be enough on their own, but they might be a way to more quickly change things a bit, while adjusting some often called out problems though not changing it to a complete write-off like some want.

"...And at the end of 2020, it said it had paid $200 billion, an increase of $45 billion. Monday's figures show a jump of $60 billion."
Nice!

Beware Quicken. My Quicken was totaled by the recent upgrade. After laboring to figure out what happened I called tech support and they informed me without remorse the new upgrade "effected" various banks including Citi and Schwab. Basically it downloaded duplicated transactions and apparent merged old transactions with new data. Very bad for the balance and the reconciliation. I am just going to start over in 2022. Pathetic. You can turn off downloads by going to settings in the lower right corner of the program interface. My Time Machine got unplugged somehow and I have know backups. Also the Quicken backups just revert to the new upgrade when opened. Don't know why Apple has never developed a simple checkbook style program. I tried iBanks for a while but they moved to the Adobe model of never ending installment payments.

Hey Duckpins,
Its been a long time since I played with Quicken but try this:
Take Quicken and/or your Mac off line
Make a completely new account stating from scratch - then see if you can use the import feature on one of your older backups and see if it takes.

OK, this has nothing to do with AAPL/Apple...please forgive me. But is there anyone you know who might get the enclosed text message and think, "Hey, cool! I paid my December bill, and now AT&T is going to give me a gift to thank me AND they're wishing me a Happy New Year"? I've gotten this message several times before and, while I'd like to think I'm at least reasonably intelligent, I began to wonder if scammers have a different opinion. 😂 I'm somewhat consoled by the fact that searching for "AT&T free message" returned 17+ million results.

Luckychoices almost certainly its some kinda malicious Spam BS designed to get you to click on a link that will either direct you to a bogus site and or depending how locked down your System is try and download something to your Mac. IE Not Good!
Sadly I've started getting a ton of Spam which in a new twist is all using Apple's disposable E-Mail addresses Perhaps as a result of Multiple t-mobile Breeches!
Scumbags.

Family gets them all the time. It’s annoying. Even if you block that number they still come like the phone messages telling you your car warranty needs extended.

Hahahaha, Google pussies admitting that their products are widely regarded as second-class 💩. But sad what candy-asses people have become. Oh boo-hoo my text bubbles are the wrong color! Kinda reminds me of that Eddie Murphy sketch about McDonald's.

I get these all the time. But only on my AT&T phone, not on any of our T-Mobile phones. Maybe T-Mo has better spam filters? They are often personalized, but they use some random name, in my case usually "Oscar", but sometimes other names. I get from "AT&T", from "Comcast"/"Xfinity", "Home Depot", etc. I almost always block them, but it is annoying to have to add a number to my contacts to block it! That makes no sense to me.

Mark, you don't need to add a number to Contacts to block it. Just the tap the ph # at the top of the text, then tap <Info> on the next screen, and at the bottom there in red you'll find a <Block This Caller> button.

I was confused because it says "Block this Contact" instead of "Block this number"!
