From the article: I've never been a fan of the streaming model. People want unlimited content, which means a bottomless pit of money to feed this insatiable desire. It reminds me of the old Apu joke about his Kwik-E-Mart (back before The Simpsons went PC). "This store is open 24 hours a day; it puts great demands on my time." One reason it sort of works for Netflix is that there are low expectations for its content. Basically a plethora of B- content. But Apple wants to provide A content.
What is the point of Apple TV? Prestige doesn't move the revenue needle.

It may, if Apple devices are needed to access some of the best content.
Off subject, but I recently had a friend tell me that he didn't like Apple because he perceived them as snooty, and actually I have four friends (well, one is an ex-friend because he moved from Seattle to Boise to be among more of his kind, but that is another story best reserved for the Dungeon) who would NEVER buy an Apple device for the same reason. I've never understood this, given Apple's leadership in making computers, phones, tablets, software, and so much easier to use. But that attitude may be dying as the old people once addicted to command lines in DOS die off.

The stickier TV+ is - in this new-ish age of streaming - the greater retention of subs and attraction of new users as word spreads about Coda and Ted Lasso, etc... It's all good.

Well today we have a discussion like the good old days of Apple VS MSFT OS. My diehard Windows and NT friends still have their Windows computers. They carefully don't load anything but necessary programs and are like careful about contamination by whatever. But security concerns don't trump their lifelong use of the Window. But they use iPads and iPhones/ People love streaming because it creates the illusion they are not paying for something they don't want. If you get cable you get 100s of "music" stations one rarely if ever uses. etc. You get tons of Spanish stations. And even Chinese and other strange tongues. If you stream you don't get what you don't want. Therefore it gives the illusion of power which is seductive.
Apple TV? I have yet to see anything of interest on it. John Stewart was awful. Personally Apple should have bought old Hollywood movies and old TV shows, created an out of copyright place that was free to all and constantly added to the library. But the future is kids who refuse to watch anything black and white, who only watch remakes of Bat man and Harry Potter, if Potter doesn't die because of the Wokee attacks. In the future Apple is betting no one is interested in the Philadelphia story or To Be Or Not To Be. They think the Beav, Ralph Cramden and Colonel Klink are worthless. That is a dark dystopian world that the new media is creating. Now with out introspection or humor. Witness the Oscars. Unfortunately for this slice of time Apple may be right.

Why do people on the floor of NYSE clap at the close on days like this? Because the worst is temporarily over?

Why do people on the floor of NYSE clap at the close on days like this? Isn't all that clapping a tape recording? From 30+ years ago?
