The TechCrunch story is a little troubling if true. Apple doesn't need to and shouldn't lower itself to engage in anything remotely smacking of shady or manipulative interactions with their customers.

I'm not sure. I have various subscriptions, and the prices go up periodically, and I can't recall having to do anything about it. In fact, just recently I read that Netflix increased the price by a buck or two ... and so far I haven't done anything about it, and my service continues as usual. I may have gotten an email about it, but I get lots and lots and lots of emails every day so I don't really see most of them.

I may have gotten an email about it, but I get lots and lots and lots of emails every day so I don't really see most of them. In addition to Netflix, biggies like Amazon and even Costco have raised their rates on their ongoing base "subscription". It just happens. Is it right, especially if it is a moderate price bump on a percentage basis? You could go either way on that. I personally don't like subscriptions unless I am really using it, but we have one or two going right now that we don't use too much. It's not a major cost, but it's not optimized when we don't use disney+ or Amazon or whatever for a month or more, and yet we are paying for it. But that's subscriptions in general, instead of a bump in price. The more important thing might be for Apple to limit the maximum price bump annual percentage. Maybe 20%, similar to Costco going from $50 to $60 automatically. Allow things higher than that, but require acceptance for that, which would mostly limit it. That seems like the way I would expect it, but that doesn't mean it is right, or it is the way Apple will go. And like most things in life, someone will complain either way. And loudly!
