Just as many other AAPL Longs, my wife and I have been auto-reinvesting a % of our quarterly AAPL dividends since Apple restarted their dividend program in August of 2012. Following our quarterly dividends on a spreadsheet has shown me quite clearly that AAPL can pretty much be purchased whenever a long-term investor has the money to buy shares...since the share price continues to increase much faster than the average cost basis of the dividend-purchased shares. Isn't it better to buy stocks, even AAPL, when the share price is as low as possible? Sure. But many people wait so long for just the right price that they end up never buying AAPL at all. Even with this share price pullback, many people continue to wait for a price that may never come. This is an example of exactly what I’m talking about. The high $130’s, low $140’s that we've experienced recently wasn’t good enough…JDoe20 on Seeking Alpha is waiting for $120-$125: The chart below shows that as the years have gone by, and the AAPL share price has increased dramatically(Thanks, Apple!), the difference between the dividend-purchased share price and the average cost basis of the dividend-purchased shares has *also* increased dramatically. When AAPL dividends were paid on 02/10/22, the mulitiplier (dividend-purchased share price/average cost basis) had reached 4.3…which meant the (average cost basis of dividend purchased shares)*(4.3) ~ $171.98...which is the share price at which my February dividends were reinvested. For long term AAPL investors, periodic purchases of AAPL since 2012, at whatever the share price was at the time, has been smart investing, IMO. Will the same hold true in the future? I’m counting on it but no one can know for certain. GLTA
