Yahoo!finance has EU Mandates Standard Charger For Apple iPhones And Other Devices. As I mentioned, my new iPad Air is USB-C. AppleInsider has What to expect from the M2 Pro, M2 Max, and M2 Ultra. Apple silicon is a powerful initiative from Tim Cook, but right in line with Steve Jobs’s original corporate strategy. cult of Mac has Apple HomePod grabs much larger chunk of smart speaker market. Our home is not very “smart,” but it is handy to be able easily move the speaker around the house to spaces not reached by the main music system. I was thinking about this. Maybe it's a positive thing for Apple. Apple has shown that they are open to moving to USB-C, but they would face backlash (like they did when they moved from the 30 pin connector) for moving away from the lightening port. Now, Apple can just point to the EU and say "it's their fault you have to get new accessories and cables". On another note, I ordered a new MBP 16" M1 Pro yesterday. Doing my part for AAPL.

No, the EU deciding what innovations US tech companies shall be allowed to bring to market is decidedly NOT a good thing for Apple or the USA. Dead, old world EU with zero innovation needs to be stood up to with extreme prejudice. It should be obvious - mostly because it was part of the argument for forming the EU - that a main purpose of the union was to be able to bully America. They are not our friends.

In the long run it doesn’t matter what the EU, Russia or China politicians think, they can’t stop the juggernaut that is Apple. The products are so good and so in demand that people will not be denied. As long as Apple continues to make quality and doing the right thing a priority, everything will just fall into place as it has been imo.

And what happens when USB-D comes around? Is some technically illiterate bureaucrat going to stick their nose into the situation and forbid it? This action by the EU is primarily an anti-Apple action. There will always be multiple connectors used, a minimum of 2 of them, the previous generation and the current generation (and sometimes even 2 generations ago, some people keep their tech items operational for a long time). Today we use USB-C, USB-A (3.0 and 2.1), and micro-USB. Mini-USB is finally gone, some older printers still have them, but nothing new uses them. Apple uses USB-C and lightning. If you look closely at these EU rules, they were so obviously crafted solely to eliminate lightning. For example, the EU says nothing about all those micro-USB power cables needed for wireless pad chargers. Or all the micro USB power cables needed to charge charging bricks. And I specifically mention these two applications because they serve exactly the same purpose as what the EU is outlawing. Charging mobile devices. In essence, and in reality, the EU is asserting power over foreign companies, just as China repeatedly does. And the more the USA rolls over and allows it, the worse it'll get. This is "deglobalization" in action.

Fortunately Apple and TSMC are trying to stay ahead of the geo-political curve. www.gizchina.com/2021/03/02/tsmc-to-flood-the-u-s-with-5nm-manufacturing-plants/

Well Apple is supposedly transferring some manufacturing to Vietnam and India so I’m sure Tim Cook is on the ball and is doing everything he can to ensure we don’t have all our eggs in one basket. As far as china moving on Taiwan, it has been said that if China were subjected to the same sanctions as Russia is right now, it would be game over for the regime in a matter of weeks. The Chinese economy is much more reliant on imports, exports and consumerism. Their unemployment is 17% now, what would happen if western companies moved out ? Plus Putin has been game planning this invasion for eight years or more. The Ukrainians are fighting like lions and I hope they get all their land back even though everything has been decimated by the war.

Well Maverick Was one of the best Westerns. Raiders of the Lost ARKK? With the constant trashing of this ETF and the chart forming a bottom, might be worth a look?

A good article if most of it is true. One thing to note is that it is from 15 months ago. If full production is to be hit by 2024, they should be well on their way building the fabs in AZ.
