EU Suits want to impose their will on Goog Et Al.... Side-loading Hacking Phishing sharing of propriety information. What Fresh Hell is this? www.macrumors.com/2022/07/05/eu-approves-landmark-legislation-to-regulate-apple/• Allow users to install apps from third-party app stores and sideload directly from the internet. • Allow developers to offer third-party payment systems in apps and promote offers outside the gatekeeper's platforms. • Allow developers to integrate their apps and digital services directly with those belonging to a gatekeeper. This includes making messaging, voice-calling, and video-calling services interoperable wit third-party services upon request. • Give developers access to any hardware feature, such as "near-field communication technology, secure elements and processors, authentication mechanisms, and the software used to control those technologies." • Ensure that all apps are uninstallable and give users the ability to unsubscribe from core platform services under similar conditions to subscription. • Give users the option to change the default voice assistant to a third-party option. • Share data and metrics with developers and competitors, including marketing and advertising performance data . • Set up an independent "compliance function" group to monitor its compliance with EU legislation with an independent senior manager and sufficient authority, resources, and access to management. • Inform the European Commission of their mergers and acquisitions. This, if approved and implemented, spells the end of innovation of all tech companies. Why even get out of bed. Incredibly myopic on the part of the EU, and even worse, if “Big Tech” does not comply, the EU gets 10% of WORLD WIDE revenues as a first time fine, and 20% thereafter. This is all about $$$, neigh a cash grab! F#$k the EU and their thermal nuclear war, as that is what it is. If i were Tim, i would throw a middle finger down their throat and say ok, no more EU sales, until they regurgitate on the loss of VAT taxes which are HUGE. That would have Ms Vestager rescinding this in a heartbeat. It would also create the largest black market one can imagine, as EU common folks would still lust for Apple products (black markets typically skirt taxation). I would hope our Executive branch and Commerce Department makes some pretty gosh darn quick phone calls, or katy bar the door. It is a trade war, make no mistake, aimed squarely at America. I am so pee’d off i cannot think straight, tapping my heels together three times…take me back to Kansas. Pinch me.

"Huberty said the 5% estimate [vs. earlier 6% growth] for App Store growth implies June quarter overall services revenue of $19.46 billion, a little below her current forecast of $19.53 billion, and the Street consensus at $19.71 billion. She added that she sees a path toward a reacceleration of App Store growth in the second half of the calendar year as comparisons ease."

It's good to see an update from her.

Hey Duckpins -look at RAM and Storage - also double check www.macsales.com as they will give you an extensive list on what is upgradable. FYI I have gotten multiple Refurb Macs from and never had an issue. You also get the exact same warranty. Happy Hunting.

Costco has them too, though with double the warranty, and 4 times the warranty if you use their credit card. Plus they have them at a discounted price. www.costco.com/imac.htmlThe nice thing on at least some if not all of the 27" iMacs is that there are ram slots so you can add memory. I have the 2019 5k version, with a 3Ghz 6 core i5. I still have the 8GB stock ram config, but will add some. It's only been an issue when I have more than 80 tabs open and one or more go crazy (such as our local small newspaper, and a Toyota fan site).

These up days against the grain have been followed by down days of late. Lets see tomorrow. At some point things will change, but this may or may not be that timeframe. 141 is a decent start, but it is all about the followthru. On the recovery front, it would be nice to see 145, and then 150, slowly. OTOH, if just throwing out hopes and dreams, a quick jump to 160+ wouldn't be bad Setting the bottom takse time unless there is a trigger event. It doesn't really look like it will be a quick turn this time, as the various big worries aren't likely quick to change. But even a slow push up can get traction, and the surprise everyone by seemingly suddenly being 10% or more off of the floor. Those tend to get the people that sold out on the downside, and I remember being slow to go risk-on with the ~2009 recovery.
