PSA…
I ordered a 27” Apple Studio Display by calling 1-800-myapple last evening, as my web order was months backordered, Grrr! So i end up talking to an Apple sales rep, really nice guy, and he commiserated with my frustration on the month or more wait for my web order… but he pulled a rabbit out of his hat, and said that my closest and normal Apple store in Oakbrook IL would have one on Sunday morning, today! I ordered the one that is height and tilt abilities as i am tall, which retails for $1999.00 normally, he took $100.00 bucks off the order added Applecare at $149.00, asked my zip code and gave me my final price, sent an email, walked me through the scheduling process and Apple and 1 year free interest, i hit all the prompts, which were many including the 15 minute window to pick it up. I then immediately got the email confirmation, and added the scan code to my Apple Wallet app. I arranged a pickup time for 12:00 PM CST.
I show up at 12:08, and there is a line outside due to occupancy rules. So i get in at 12:17 and check in, have my code scanned and show a drivers ID, and am told to wait in the corner by the security guard, gun toting! So he and i talk for the fifteen more minutes as i wait, and we are both amazed how busy the place was, and all the products that were walking out the store, iPhone, MacBook Airs, MacBook 14 and 16”, iPads, iMacs, Mac Ultras, and multiple 27” Studio Displays! It was busier than any holiday season i have seen at this store EVER! Based on this, my call is we are in for some killer numbers this quarter, it was incredible.
I just placed a limit till cancelled buy order at Vanguard for 160 shares at $170.00, i hope it fills Monday! Ik, Ik, RSI over 70, so what! I, Like Lucky never sell, well i dont, Lucky only does for RMD reasons.
Merry ho ho ho, thought you might like to know, and no i did not ask for the $100.00 discount, it was proffered by the Sales rep in Winnipeg freely, woohoo! The Apple rep spoke Punjab and Hindi, so i thought i was talking to an India call center, nope he and his family got into Canada via legal immigration as he had a Masters in CS. So i blew him away and finished speaking to him in both Hindi, and Punjabi, he freaked! He also cancelled my web order! Killer service!
I also informed him of the Apple ESOP program, where employees can buy quarterly at the lowest strike price, which is killer, so he is calling HR Monday to enroll, smart man! He did not know it existed… imagine all the lucky ESOP enrollees that get it at sub $130.00 this quarter, an Apple employee can put up to 10% of their gross pay into Apples ESOP, FYI. Another new feature i was unaware of, for $9.00, apple will deliver right to your home, same day via Uber, just need to provide Uber driver with a four digit code Apple supplies you, another great service!

Are you sure on that? In the past it worked just like other employee stock purchase plans that I have had at other companies, that on a 6 month basis it is at the lower of the first price and the end price. FWIW, one of the times I has doing this, they "ran out of shares" that were approved for this, so that time we couldn't buy the maximum. This was probably around 2004.

I think the Apple ESPP has 2 dates, 2/1 and 8/1 (or maybe 7/31). For each half year, you get the lower price from the start or the finish, and then get a 15% discount from that. So for the 2/1/22 - 8/1/22 period, the price would be about $161 - 15%, or $136.85. For the 8/1/22 to 2/1/23 period, right now, the price would also be $136.85 unless the price on 2/1/23 is less than 161. And there are limits, max is 10% of base salary, with an IRS maximum of $25k per year (of stock value, so the limit with a 15% discount is $21,250). Participating in an ESPP is literally a no-brainer. Anyone not doing is it definitely losing out. Even if you don't want to add to your risk in holding company stock, you should STILL participate, and just sell the shares, or better yet, sell older shares from a year ago and pay long-term CG rates, without extending your risk of holding company stock at all. You just effectively adjusted your basis and got some free money.

You just effectively adjusted your basis and got some free money. I meant that employees weren't getting it for 15% off the low $129 price from the quarter. It does make a lot of sense if you can float it. I put the maximum 10% at all 3 of the companies that I worked at that offered this. It wasn't life changing like investing 50% of my income, but it made a nice bump in the right direction. It's great that you were sharing this info and getting the employee interested, SomeJuan.
