Ya, I had a response posted and deleted it. Decided it was counterproductive to comment any further. Suffice to say that this woke stuff applied to EV’s including whatever Apple is doing is stunning to me. And not in a good way. Blown away by what I have read here today. Truly disappointing. I think that I fully understand the advantages of electric vehicles over internal combustion. Such as an electric motors ability to provide all of its power from zero rpm. And the ability to have mu motors for speed or improved traction. Simplicity, reduced maintenance and ownership cost (except for the battery replacement). But when I said that there were not enough electrons to go around I was talking about the necessary infrastructure to support the demand. Which means the continuous push to electric transportation without also expanding our ability to generate that additional load is insane. And then there’s the time to recharge and the infrastructure needed for that. That’s where the problems are.

I guess I wonder if they could even be going down this path without car company involvement? I would be surprised if they got to the announcement stage of this, on pure speculation, that they could do this. Yes, I agree.

The grid does not have the capacity, even in hydroelectric “rich” locations such as mine. I have friends at senior levels at our major hydroelectric company, and they categorically state that the generation capability just isn’t there. With that said, I have a fundamental objection the the not-so-thinly-veiled political insults being tossed around with this “woke” theme. Why is that appropriate or necessary?

To get into that discussion we would first have to debate the legitimacy of the climate change assumption. Without the fear that the world is going to end because of CO2, the progression to electric transportation could move forward at an acceptable pace along with the infrastructure necessary to support it. Being woke is comparable to the actions of a mob that is being driven without a sense of reason, but parroting the crowd around them. In that lies the danger.

PS In my original post on this thread I said "And an all electric car is years away." Gosh, that is not really what I meant. Of course there are all electric cars today. I should have written "And when all cars are electric is years away"
I was thinking about large SUV's and trucks. Sorry.

I knew that is what you meant hledgard, and that is a pretty accurate statement in my opinion.
