Welcome to a new trading week. We’re starting this week with a red pre-market at -1.07% at this moment. Is this where we give back last weeks gains?

I played with CHatGPT the other night (it was only available between 1 and 3). It was impressive and far exceeded the average financial analyst in its ability to generate frivolous drivel that sounded like it had substance. While I have little sympathy for those analysts who will soon be looking for honest work, I am concerned about the stories I read about the bot's sophistication. In one instance, it made a claim and justified it using a reference to a paper that it invented. This is a level of subterfuge that even Business Insider has not achieved. I expect to see Chat GPT articles flooding Seeking Alpha if they haven't been already. Come to think of it, we may be entering a time where the ChatGDP-generated financial press overwhelms the AI trading bots. As the trading bots respond with means to filter out the chaff, it may become safe to talk about cars again

"I’m not sure which is worse, FedSpeak or the anticipation of FedSpeak. " Greenspan made himself a multi millionaire speaking to banks and hedge funds about inflation. He invented wage inflation. Followed his Ayn Rand philosophy or cut down the rabbit hole and destroyed the economy. The Fed chair can't stay away from the temptation to be a Sir Lancelot inflation fighter. Too much money. Too many fairy princesses.l
He was going for age inflation as Boomers were retiring causing unemployment to drop. Didn't stick. But he won't stop fighting until he is punch drunk. Just like before fossil fuel prices are fueling inflation. Solution is more energy produced.

Yes, but how do we know if you or CHatGPT wrote this post? We are entering a period when nothing is real, even more than was always the case. I actually thought about getting ChatGPT to write it, but it isn't quite there yet. I agree that our skepticism and critical thinking need to be turned up to 11 from now on.

Years ago I sold a bunch of used Mac stuff online. I put one of those quickkey programs onto my computer, so that with a key command I could put my address, or my spiel on shipping, or whatever. For me this was in addition to typing out part of a response. In a way the Chat bot is just the next step to a phone message system. If they find that 20-50% of people are just calling or chatting for specific things (think store hours, location, direction), then for efficiency sake it makes sense to quickly answer those things, without needing a person to assist. While the new stuff is a level, or three, up from that, it's still the same general idea. But like anything, it can be used on the up and up, or used in bad ways. Like Air Tags. A relative of ours, in the Hacking prevention trade for a major bank, feels this sort of thing is going to crush many jobs that don't need higher education. It could, but it's the rate of change that really matters, as all sorts of jobs have adapted or changed over time. We'll see how it goes.

appleinsider.com/articles/23/02/07/apple-to-hold-first-in-person-ai-summit-in-years?utm_medium=rssAs Apple begins to ease its COVID policies, the company has decided to hold its annual internal AI summit in person, which could mean the company may soon return to traditional media events. The AI summit is similar to Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference, except it caters only to Apple employees. Topics this year will likely focus on ChatGPT and OpenAI. While the event will be held in-person, it will still be streamed for employees who are unable to attend. The news was shared on Twitter by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. On the heels of OpenAI, ChatGPT noise and Google + Microsoft AI launches, Apple is holding its (previously scheduled) annual internal AI summit next week. It’s like a WWDC for AI, but only for Apple employees.
