It’s Friday and this mornings pre-market is red at -1.01% at this moment. It looks like it’s back to the $140’s again.

My wife still uses chrome as one of her browsers. On safari, typing in cn might be enough to auto fill cnn.com, and so hitting return just goes there. But on chrome, at least with her settings, even typing cnn and then return brings you to google, with the top hit correct, though normally the very top hit is an ad, even if it is the same site. I imagine google at least gets some money if you click on that “ad”.
It’s the obvious choice for the vendor getting ad money from search. And if it’s what you are used to, it doesn’t seem a hassle. But I’m used to ‘aa’ getting me here, and ‘fI’ being enough to get me to finance.yahoo.com
In other news, if you haven’t paid attention to car sales lots, it’s dramatically different than a year ago. I’ll have to see if it’s across ghe board, such as having the sienna in stock, but there are lots of shinny things here in their lot.

Go to speedtest.net and compare Chrome/Safari/Firefox.

Personally, I found Chrome to be slower. Go to speedtest.net and compare Chrome/Safari/Firefox. I think it dates back from when she had a few sites that had problems with safari, plus chrome or Firefox made it easier to see what site was misbehaving. Now some bookmarks and auto fill passwords are in one browser or another, so she has both chrome and safari open. There are still problematic sites out there, but it seems like it’s often with a bad ad, so doesn’t happen every time. Otoh, before I just upgraded to the latest os, safari was locking up on me with some of the print options on sites, particularly recipe sites. I finally had to fire up Firefox just to print a recipe for dinner. Turns out there are not as many new cars on the lot as I thought. But still a lot more options than 6 months ago, and hugely different from a year ago. Things are changing

My wife and I have been 100% invested in AAPL/Apple for about 22 years now. We've had the AAPL dividends in our IRA's auto-reinvested since Apple restarted their dividend program in 2012. I've never felt the need to change our investing strategy...but I still occasionally read articles that question whether AAPL is a good investment. For that reason alone I was prompted to read Is Apple Stock A Buy After December-Quarter Earnings Miss? After the usual talk about Apple's new products: On Sept. 7, Apple introduced its third-generation 5G smartphones, the iPhone 14 series. It also debuted its Apple Watch Series 8 smartwatches and second-generation AirPods Pro wireless earbuds. Apple stock rose 0.9% on the news. The article went on to discuss: Apple Opportunities For Growth Apple Product Rumors Persist Apple Earnings: Miss and Guide Down Apple Stock Retreats From Record High Apple's Storied History Exclusive Apple Stock Ratings AAPL Stock Technical AnalysisIt finally arrived at the moment to answer the question posed by the article's title: Is Apple Stock A Buy After December-Quarter Earnings Miss? And this was what the author stated: Apple stock is not a buy right now. It is trading well below its official buy point.Hey, everyone makes mistakes...we all do. But after all the prep work to write the article, who could miss that one?

Yeh, amazing . . . Remember to always wait till a promising stock goes much higher to reach some mythical "buy point" before investing. What's that old internet wisdom? Buy medium, sell during a panic? Have a nice weekend.

Maybe chatgpt wrote the piece. It's the kind of error it still makes periodically. We've seen this before. IBD and some others like to see a stock in a range. So near a relative low, they feel there is decent risk of it going lower. And that makes sense in some ways, especially when trying to have a broad brush for any stock, and not looking at a the specifics. There is some risk that things that are going down, or are near the low, will continue to go down. That's the whole "don't try to catch a falling knife". For a real-life example, that was me buying META about a year ago, at about $230. It had already fallen a lot, and seemed to be on the rebound. This is a company with a lot of income and a lot of stickiness. But investors were reevaluating, so even with revenue and earnings, past investor sentiment wasn't where things were necessarily going. We can think that AAPL is a whole different beast, and it is. But in the past 10-20 years we have seen changes, with it's P/E dipping down to around 10 (big-oil range) at one time. Sure, I think it is crazy that they feel that AAPL is below the range that they would want to buy it. But thinking about it, I can understand their reasoning, which they have used many times in the past and some here have questioned many times in the past. That, offhand, could be crazy to set AI up to understand. But switching it to a formula, where they say "after a downturn, we want a stock to be up at least 25% from the low, but at least 10% off our target" it can make sense. FWIW, AAPL was nearly 25% off the recent low earlier this week, an impressive feat when considering things still seem questionable for the market as a whole. I think the S&P was up over 20% from it's low.
