Yahoo!finance has Apple blocks update to email app with ChatGPT tech. ”While AI-powered chatbots are a nascent field, early search results and conversations have made headlines with their unpredictability.” For me, the stories I have seen about the methodology include descriptions that put more emphasis on what has occurred in the past rather than the demands of the current. While this may produce interesting demos, I am skeptical of its true value as a productivity tool. However, it is still early days, so it is important to keep an open mind.

AppleInsider has iPhone 15 Pro Max: What it looks like and when it's coming. First, let me say that I have never bought a top-of-the-line iPhone. The accompanying picture does not make me think this model will change that. It looks like the phone can only lie flat on its face, at least without a case. I have not gotten that feeling about the current Pro models, but perhaps I am wrong since I have not actually owned one. I would be interested to hear from any current Pro model owners.

No iPhones for the last several years have been able to lie flat on anything other than their front face… all of them have camera bumps on the back 🙂

In which world is “we do think the US economy is proving highly resilient because of excess savings and a strong labor market,” a bad thing that must be stopped? So is the goal high unemployment and no financial reserves?
IN THE WORLD where Greenspan makes himself a multimillionaire by blabbering Ayn Rand gibberish. The Fed is mandated to maintain full employment and control inflation. The idea that they are mutually exclusive is Greenspan's/ Just need a Fed person to say Greenspan was full of shit. And to say higher energy prices fuel inflation. We need more power plants and more refineries and more fossil fuel production which with a small tax can be used to forge solar panels, etc.. at the same time. With an abundance of energy more creativity and business ideas can be tried out. Energy and health care are major hurtles for small business and innovation.

I don’t remember the time when any iPhone laid flat due to the camera bump. I have the 14 Pro, and it doesn’t lay flat.

Perhaps you meant to say “any iPhone Pro” because every iPhone I have ever owned, including my current SE, could lie flat on its back. Nice afternoon surge for AAPL, BTW.

I just finished a long discussion on Chat GPT about whether or not trees are sentient and capable of moral choices. I think the bot passed the Turing test as far as I am concerned. I am not sure if that is a comment on AI or the current state of philosophy. As easy as it is to poke fun at chatGPT, I think it is for real and we had better pay attention to its ability to disrupt communication. It already could replace the financial press, many sociologists, and Congress. Come to think of it, there are a few congressmen that I believe would fail the Turing test.

Perhaps the Voight-Kampff test would be better. But in that test it could be tricked by giving the android false memories of having had a childhood. “Memories, you gave them memories.”
