Sell everything! Who knows what bad things could happen over a 3 day weekend! ;-) Unfortunately that is an legitimate fear for many. It looks like things are coming around now, not far from the highest point in 7.5 months. But we'll see what the last hour, 20 minutes, 15 minutes, and even 5 minutes bring. It seems like new 52 month highs are going to take some substance, and new ATH's likely would take substance both on the Fed or economy side, along with from Apple. But hopes and dreams are a great thing, and may have enough influence on their own.

Odd that there is a limited event risk sell. Particularly the regional banks which have been collectively sold because of the insolvent few are all up. Does this mean the shorts are getting out because of event risk or that they have milked the cow? FT says hedge funds made 7 billion shorting the banks. I note BRK is performing better than American EXP. Possibly because of the Apple and energy components.
Don't know what to make of Chick Nuggets.
Apple made a higher high before the pull back, next stop 169-70 then 175 then a new high? Let's hope so. So far pull back was only to the 13 day average. Looks surprisingly strong.

Sometimes it's good to be reminded of being too overconfident, especially when jumping into something you don't know much about: fortune.com/longform/summit-powder-mountain-utopiaIt is behind a paywall. FWIW, copying and pasting it into a text document seems to work. I'd never tried that, so it was a fun experiment. Their initial town idea is an interesting concept, though I could easily tell them it's much easier to live and build lower instead of thinking about at the top of their mountain. And even with their workforce housing plans, their limited invite list for plots would likely make for a strange place. There's pluses and minuses for everything, and though it seems they meant well, it's a strange concept that works better for short events than a town. And their "cruise ship" events seem like a better way to get lots of people together while already having the infrastructure. But there are times that the "let's just buy the whole ski mountain" is tempting, especially 10-15 years ago when the big conglomerates hadn't started paying big money for some. Even with this largest snowfall in 71 years, some of my planter beds are starting to clear, while other spots still have 6-8' of snow. And some vermin, probably a rabbit, girdled the cherry tree that was doing the best, 4-5' up at snow level. Grrrrr. Looks like things are easing off a little, but we'll see what this last 40 minutes brings. Enjoy the long Easter weekend. Thanks Apple! And thanks everyone here!

Reader mode bypasses this particular paywall Yea, since I could copy and paste, I figured there were other ways. Private Mode on Firefox didn't work, though that works in "you can read this many" sites, as does deleting the cookie. All that said, if there was a place that I wanted to read things from often, I'd buy a subscription if that was what was needed. There have been more articles on the stock.app lately that at least have tempting titles. I suppose that's one more place that targeted ads could have a foothold, since there are probably plenty of people that would be willing to have targeted ads for particular sites if that let them see added content. It's just a matter of how targeted they get. OTOH, if people see enough pharmaceutical ads, maybe they'll just start buying subscriptions (instead of prescriptions) to make them stop.

Were you looking at the daily volume instead of the open interest? On Yahoo (which is normally solid but not always) it was only showing a OI at 165 of 26.9k on calls, and 13.6k puts. No OI on the weeklies were very much, but there were 39k and 32k of calls at 167.5 and 170, with 35.2k of puts at 160. Today's daily volume was about 117.4k on the 165 calls, but I think there's lots of day trading going on, possibly as a proxy to the indexes since AAPL options normally are traded more, and have lower spreads, than the indexes.

FWIW, week over week, AAPL is down 24 cents.
By staying basically flat for a week, in this case 4 trading days (normal RSI uses 14 days, so the day count matters), the RSI dropped from 69.70 to 65.64.
It all doesn't matter too much, and matters even less in the long long term. But it does often change the probabilities in the short or very short term.

According to Seattle's King 5 News, thieves broke into Seattle Coffee Gear, went into the bathroom, and cut a hole in the wall to get to the Apple Store backroom. The burglars were able to bypass the Apple Store's security system by using the adjacent coffee shop, stealing a total of 436 iPhones that were worth around $500,000. According to Seattle Coffee Gear manager Eric Marks, the coffee shop is not noticeably adjacent to the Apple Store because of the way that the store is laid out. "I would have never suspected we were adjacent to the Apple Store, how it wraps around I mean," Marks told King 5 News. "So, someone really had to think it out and have access to the mall layout." Police were able to obtain surveillance footage of the theft, but as it is part of an active investigation, it has not yet been released. Nothing was stolen from the coffee shop, but it will cost $1,500 to replace locks and repair the bathroom wall. No employees were at the Apple Store when the theft happened as the Alderwood Mall had closed for the night. An Alderwood spokesperson said they were working with the police to solve the incident, but Apple has not yet commented. Attachments:

Wow, quite a story. But it was more uplifting to read the rest of the second part:
CPR instructors point out that CPR alone often isn't enough to revive someone. Instead you're just trying to circulate a bit of oxygenated blood to keep someone alive. And that's where an AED or other defibrillator comes in. Often the heart is in a strange rhythm, still trying to work, but not doing well. An AED can analyze what's happening and give a shock if it thinks it will help. Defibrillator's get more advanced as you go up the emergency response chain, of an Ambulance, an emergency helicopter, and a Hospital.
Sounds like they really did have a crazy day.

Maybe it's good that the market is closed tomorrow: Samsung to cut chip production after posting lowest profit in 14 yearsSure, Apple and its customers are different in some ways. But often there is a link, and even if Apple doesn't see the same downturn, analysts and investors are likely to at least think some softness is possible. Still nearly a month until earnings.......
