Apple VR/AR headset might actually be goodAs far as the price, I remember when the iPad originally came out the rumours were for a $1000 price. Everyone was shocked and said it wouldn't sell. When it was introduced, it came out at $500.

Apple has a variety of iPhone levels now. And they last a long time and plan providers can split up the cost to be just $5-$20 a month. It's seen as an affordable luxury by some, or just worth it over the life of the iPhone, especially if it's replacing a camera or even a laptop. This article about people shopping at Erewhon, apparently similar to Whole Foods but more expensive, gave a glimpse at the mindset of some people that are more doing it for the image, lifestyle, and perceived luxury, even if living with their parents or telling everyone they are "barely scraping by". At the same time, if comparing a $20 smoothie to a $20 drink at a bar, I can understand that justification. stocks.apple.com/AH4if43fyToCcOYZppq3BYALooks like that $165 level is pulling on AAPL. We'll see how it goes, though these expiration based moves are often temporary, even if there is sometimes a quick drop lower on Monday that lets called covered call sellers buy back in for just a little less.

I've meant to post this for a few weeks now, ideally on a Monday morning. But here we are on a Friday, a week and a half from earnings, in a bit of a quiet time for Apple.
We have a lot more people viewing this site as guests than as members. I know whereas my Mac keeps me logged in forever, my iPhone sometimes logs me out in just over a day. But we'd like to hear from a few more people and perspectives.
It would be great if people visiting this site could all try to post once in a while. Once a month would be ideal, but if even that seems too much, then make it at least once a quarter. I'm sure everyone has some thoughts on Apple, AAPL, or investing at least once a quarter. Or post a link to something you find interesting or insightful.
Likewise, if you appreciate someone's post, "Like" it. Quite a few go through a lot of effort to post things here daily or weekly. Give them a little "thumbs up", reminding them that you appreciate their work. I think we can all find at least one post to say thanks for on a weekly basis, but if that's too much then try to manage at least once a month. Even if I've read some of the stories before I see them linked here, there's normally at least a few that are new to me and well worth it. Or thoughts/insights on something. Or comparisons to how other things are doing, broadening our view.
It's easy to become just a viewer here. But while we all are focused on AAPL, Apple, and finances, it's easy to become too focused. Getting more views and more contributions helps us all.
Thanks
Aaron

Anyone else think Apple News+ is kinda dumb? I have likely downvoted 20 articles on Harry, Megan, and the rest of the frikken Royal Family. I could care less about this bunch, but the service keeps on putting this junk in my feed.

Anyone else think Apple News+ is kinda dumb? I have likely downvoted 20 articles on Harry, Megan, and the rest of the frikken Royal Family. I could care less about this bunch, but the service keeps on putting this junk in my feed. On the stock app, they're switching over more things to needing Apple News+. And of course it's often the titles that are more tempting and interesting, though sometimes clicking on it will give a few more words or sentences in the title, sometimes enough to know a bit about it. I imagine I'll start paying for it soon, and I think our new iPhones came with a trial option. On the stock app the other thing I've noticed is a big push up in the automated posts. I've seen it for a while with AAPL, the "AAPL went down today, but beat the market" type daily ones. But there's been a few titles that keep catching my eye, that have "Cl A" in the title. That's actually class A shares. Most normal writers wouldn't call that out, aside from possibly with Berkshire, but normally the share prices are relatively tied together, so it wouldn't be something to note. But to a BOT, it's a fact worth mentioning. And they always put it in caps, often in bold, with that L looking like a capital i so we skip the space and see "CIA". What are they doing with Berkshire, or News Corp (I think that was the one I saw yesterday)? Maybe in the not too distant future the only "free" stuff will be the bot generated stuff and press releases, where any thoughtful articles will be through subscriptions? But if Apple News+ is pushing the tabloid stuff, there's room for improvement.

Day Traders Lose $358,000 Per Day Gambling on Zero-Day OptionsWhile this isn't on AAPL directly, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the big players writing these zero day to expiration index options were also buying or selling options directly in some of the individual stocks as a hedge. Even if it isn't logical as a long term strategy, there will always be some hoping to beat the odds when they buy a lottery ticket or pull the slow machine lever. But while the gambling industry pushes the "doing it for fun" mindset, or the CA lottery advertising "dream a little dream", that's not what some are thinking when they put down their money.

Apple News +. I have that and I get it for archeological articles. Too much pulp otherwise. And articles on sports are days late. Soccer brained Tim Cook has missed out on what Sports can do for Apple TV+ and the News+. Warriors playoff articles should show up as the game ends not in a few days.

The whole multiple device and auto logoff causes that phenomenon. I only post on my mac in safari, which seems to stay logged in as long as I read/post periodically. But I read on iPhone (both browser and tapatalk), on iPad, and rarely on PC. Those are probably all logged off.

Erewhon FYI IYF is Nowhere spelled backwards. Has been around at least since the 70s. Hmmm, the backwards spelling is close, but not quite. They talk about the origins in the story, of both the store and the name. And then rebranding it, reaiming it, and using the social network thing. There's times where I want Apple to go for this sort of thing, selling a very high end option just for those that want to show off, and have the ability. The Edition level of Apple Watches did that, with that Prince buying 4 of them to put a $10k one on each paw of a dog. Or from the usability side, they probably have 1 in 100 or 1 in 1000 chips that could reasonably be run and rated at 10% higher speeds. That would be useful for someone, and someone would be willing to pay a premium. Or heck, just a premium color. Charge $100 more, and if you want give part of that to a charity. But as much as Apple may be a premium brand, with somewhat premium prices (though often negated partly by the product quality and contents, such that a high end Samsung is roughly the same pricing with similar levels of contents as a high end iPhone), Apple mostly hasn't chosen to go this way. They might support a Gucci watch band or something like that. But they haven't put a premium priced special level out there, even though they have a broad enough user base that they could. Instead, others have come out with the diamond covered or 24 carat dipped products. These crazy limited sales might work for some, like Neiman Marcus, but Apple has mostly (save for the Edition) steered clear. Still, it's interesting to read of those who are getting happiness from the store, even if they really shouldn't be shopping there. But really, who's to say that. My personal values and preferences might be "hey, save that money, and build a nest egg, retirement savings, or down payment". But really, if that's how they want to live and want to spend, and it makes them happy, then what is wrong with that? Except for the girl, who said she'd post it on her social and of course had a little smirk in her picture, who was trying to justify charging her babysitting employeer the $20 cost of the hyped up smoothie, by giving her charge a small slurp of it. Oh well. With that kind of following, I'd rather be an investor in the underlying company (or build a competing product, here where many vacationers and locals have the free cashflow to support such a venture) , though one would always have to worry when it might "jump the shark". Maybe it's not all bad that Apple isn't trying to milk that last buck from those (currently) more than willing to pay.
