Storm in a teacup - The Physics of Everyday Life by Helen Czerski
Another physics related book, from the list. This one had promise, but I just didn't bond to it. I think she tried to simplify and repeat things a bit too much, which might be ok or even good for some people, but I didn't like it. It was interesting to hear of some of her tales, like exploring bible science on a boat going into a storm, and some of the related stories were interesting like the creation of a ship that wouldn't (shouldn't) get crushed by the ice to sit in/on an ice float. But by the end either I was done or she just didn't put things together as well.
While this did talk about many everyday things, like a toaster, the explanations just weren't right to me. I'd suggest something different.
And now on to Capital and Ideology. At over 1000 pages, and going back hundreds of years, I don't think I am going to make it through the whole thing. But I'll start with some sections in the middle that might be more relevant (On the Inertia of Wealth Taxes Stemming from the Eighteenth Century...sounds like a page turner), and see if I like the info and style.
