Good Morning, AAPL is up to 179.05 +$.86 (+.48%) in premarket trading. Hopefully we don’t see the pattern of starting the day green only to dip into negative territory for the rest of the day. Wait and see.

Weird the bounce it open is being sold off so dramatically, hedge fund games probably.
Will wait to buy during usual Friday dip.

FWIW the date stamp on that article is from over 2.5 years ago. I don't know enough to know the latest moves or worry level.

So what's the latest with the situation. (EDIT: Looks like I posted just after you. Thanks for the other article. It's long and with lots of info...and fairly similar to what I was remembering from other articles) My offhand feeling is that this is similar to a long term feud between families (was that in Huck Finn or the other one?), where feeling might continue being heated for decades, but as long as something doesn't set things off it doesn't get worse...or better. Sorta like the cold war, where everyone was on alert, especially if something happened (Cuban missile crisis, plane shot down, even Sputnik), but it mostly managed to stay in the "no major escalations" category, even if many movies show how something could quickly escalate. But maybe there are escalations or increased threat levels that I haven't paid attention to. With 24/7 local, regional, national and global news, and the priorities that news outlets give to different things that may or may not match my personal interest, it's hard to keep up with everything. Especially if I need to get out and away from the computer. Off to go do house projects. The temps have already changed decently from a few weeks ago. We no longer need the windows open all night with the fans blowing to cool things down. Each year is a little different, but the constant is change.

NVDia has a nice 60 point gap to fill from 308-68. Don't know if it will sink quickly there but the headlines suggest they are selling all the chips they can make. AAPL is holing, is this a pause before another decline? Friday is the fear day, do they fear even risk of someone buy-ing Disney-hence up or the fear of apple buying same which will send the stock lower temporarily one guesses.
Maybe Apple should buy the golf and tennis channels? Need to diversify from "football".

CPI data came out much earlier today, basically at or a little lower than expected. Inflation: Consumer prices rise 3.2% in July as inflation slowdown stallsSome things are up, some things are down. Gas, though up a lot since the start of the year, is down compared to 12 months ago (and up compared to further back). New cars are up a little YOY but with much higher availability, though this or another article said there was nearly a 60 day supply. Guess I need to swing past some other dealerships. Ford didn't add the AWD option to the hybrid maverick like some were hoping, so it's not a possibility, but I'd at least test drive a ranger or bronco, even though my current f150 experience makes me value toyota even more. But we might get a venza or rav4, and will probably get either a tacoma or land cruiser when the new versions come out. Back to inflation, it seems like many parts of it are fairly backward looking, so they will take a while to settle down especially if trying to get all the way down to 2% (or below). But the "hold the rates steady for a while" timeframe will do that, even if we see another rate hike before then. FWIW, one of the auto articles talked about how much higher the holding cost interest charges are for dealerships. One of them, maybe autonation, went from a $3.9M monthly cost to something like $34M. That's huge, and where inventory management really matters. I don't like that Toyota has a months to year long wait on many cars, but it sure helps them minimize inventory costs. Just like the times when Apple sells things as quick as it can make them.

I think Taiwan is an underlying issue, and will be for some time. It is an issue always in the background for AAPL. Hopefully it will never become a problem. I do like the comparison to the "cold war," and in a way like considering Ukraine being a "proxy war."

There are multiple threads in “The Dungeon” describing what China’s intentions are towards Taiwan and the rest of the free world. For those that care to have a prospective.
