Thanks aapl for opening the thread yesterday, even if it ended up saying Tuesday instead of Thursday and was eventually abandoned. I had left it yesterday morning before heading out for the day, thinking I shouldn't micromanage or overstep by bringing it up or editing it for you.
FWIW, people can always edit their posts, which includes the ability to edit the title if starting a thread. This is the same thing that you do if you start the daily thread, and then later edit it to add the closing price. You click the Edit button on the post.
Likewise, users can delete their post. The option is in the "Setting" looking button that is a pulldown menu, with the choice being "Delete Post".
While AAPL isn't down too much in the past few weeks when looking at the grander scale, like Dave I do hope that this was the relative low and we see a turn with the changing of the month.
Let's give it a week and see how things are going. Aloha!

"Tim Cook interview: Apple boss talks trillion-dollar transformation and ushering in new era of computing"
Is Apple drinking their own kool-aid? This reminds me of the 2012 meltdown when the stock dropped by 50%. Following Jobs passing one expected something like this. The catalyst was the candy bar iPhone #5 which was ugly, too small to compete with Samsung and harder to fit in the front pocket. It made no sense and the stock showed that.
The ski mask has potential. But it is not a done deal. I can see lots of uses. Drones, a fiber optic camera so Dermotologists can closely examine skin lesions with putting their nose on your body like a near sighted jeweler. But as of yet don't even know if that is possible. Running drones should be hugely lucrative. The abandonment of leather products is a clear political statement. I don't buy that this is better for the environment and certainly if you don't want leather there ought to be great cases because from ultra suede to fake leathers by the luxury car dealers there are tons of alternatives. But to completely ignore those who want leather for political reasons of "virtue signaling" is ludicrous. The best thing for activists is to be proactive and to create solar power. Trying to charge for coffee cups and paper bags is silly. The demand for power is huge and growing. Witness Crypto. there are what 4 billion people in Africa? 1.4 in China 1+ in India and they all want cars, AC and heat. They are moving up to the middle class and shelter and comfort are priorities.
To expect that not selling a few cases of suede or leather will make a dent in the use of fuel....
Call me worried about the direction of Apple.
The titanium is another example, last night I read mucho on this and the gamers of course are all burning about the hot phone. Don't fix if it aint broke. Ancient business law.

The catalyst was the candy bar iPhone #5 which was ugly, too small to compete with Samsung and harder to fit in the front pocket. It made no sense and the stock showed that. Actually, the stock showed how wrong-headed (or worse!) the market is. Sales (millions) by FY: 2011 108,249 2012 156,508 2013 170,910 2014 182,795 2015 233,715 During that whole period, the P/E ratio actually fell from 15.3, ending FY 2015 at 10.8! That is an primarily an ethical decision, not one relating to carbon or energy. More par-for-the-course FUD that accompanies just about every Apple product release. The problem appears to be software-related and will have a software fix.

Thank you deasys, for some actual facts, as opposed to fact-free ranting.

Call me worried about the direction of Apple. Really? A few hiccups in the weeks after the annual new releases? A small number of typical glitches with new technology, many of which either have been or will be resolved before the holidays buying season. I’d be more concerned if there were evidence that Apple is shying away from innovation because of the risks involved. Few, if any, of these problems will have a significant effect on the holiday sales. The message that I have taken from the stampede to get the top of line models is that Apple understands exactly what its fans/customers expect from them - innovation and rapid response to the inevitable glitches. I’ll get worried if Apple ever decides to back off from the aggressive pursuit of a new future, which was always the hallmark of Steve Jobs’s strategy. Are there risks? Sure but it would be much riskier to stop trying to give their customers things they didn’t even know that they wanted or needed.

My 15 Pro has been getting heavy daily use and it’s been perfect. No issues with heating at all. There’s nothing wrong with the titanium or the phone design. If some small number of 15s (and apparently older devices are also having similar spotty problems after updating to iOS17) are getting hot and the attention is “vocal”, it’s looking more and more to be a software issue that only affects certain users, rather than a hardware design issue.

Do you use Instagram on a regular basis? Quite a few people, including the famous @mkbhd, have reported that the heat problem only occured for them while using Instagram. Maybe Zuck buried some "iPhone killer code" in the latest version of Instagram? (KIDDING!!! It's probably just a random bug)

Titanium was crucial for me. Or rather, weight reduction, which the titanium enabled. My work phone is an iPhone (non pro) and picking it up and using it all day it’s so much nicer to engage, hold, use. The pro was a heavy brick that was a wrist pain during extended use especially one handed for any length of time. I was considering going non pro for personal phone and giving up the higher screen refresh rate, camera lenses, etc. I viewed the old pro as a sacrifice. You trade added features for a weight penalty and paid extra! Now, the pro is actually more pro, pay more and get more without the downside of weight penalty. It’s a massive benefit (to me) for use all day.
Also, zero overheating after initial data transfer. Very little instagram use = )

Here's what he had to say in his review of the iPhone 15 Pro: youtu.be/cBpGq-vDr2Y?si=FK72GsJ04APWCG8o&t=697In other words, in his experience the problem occurred unexpectedly and was temporary. It sure seems like a software glitch…
