PED has How Apple can monetize AI, with a link to an article on Seeking Alpha. As I have mentioned in the past, I am not enamored of talking to my devices, but it certainly seems to be the primary way that most pundits see AI being integrated into consumer products, hence Siri integration. Personally, I am more interested to see how it can improve real-time problem solving, you know, how we actually live our daily lives. The challenge there, of course, is how to frame the problem in order to increase the likelihood that the solution provided/suggested matches the objectives, both stated and implied, of the user. I freely admit that I have spent little time delving into the underlying principles of AI development, so it is quite likely that I don’t know what I am talking about. But in my own life, making sure that I try to understand what I am really trying to accomplish is usually the critical step. BWDIK

As I have mentioned in the past, I am not enamored of talking to my devices, but it certainly seems to be the primary way that most pundits see AI being integrated into consumer products, hence Siri integration. I haven't done as much text message dictation to my phone as I used to. But it's still extremely handy when you can't really use your hands (ski gloves), and I used it a few times in the last couple weeks when I sent a longer message. I'm still impressed with how often it gets the correct word form (too vs to vs two, their vs there vs they're). But it's not perfect either, often messing my daughter's name (texting or dictation), nor auto-inserting certain trail names or other things that I use somewhat frequently. Maybe I'm expecting that it would put a fairly high priority onto remembering words that were capitalized? But that's just dictation. I suppose the harder thing is having AI do things, but in more complex ways and using some logic without having the user have to specify the logic. It's all of those things that we think are simple, but that really have all sorts of micro edge cases that we tend to not even think about. And then there is the hope that it can go wider, broadening the scope to take into account things we haven't even thought about. Maybe a map route and time estimate already takes into account the daily 15 mph school zone from 2:30-3pm, but also learns about the upcoming once-a-year homecoming parade from 1-2 and gives allowances for it even before it happens? We've had a few surprises of that type, like I-5 in central Oregon being nearly a parking lot after a Ducks game got out, that a real time map can find as it happens but some AI might be able to warn of before it happens, by putting a few things together. And that is still a pretty simple ask. We'll see what the future brings. In many things the basics are easy, but the real skill and experience show through when problems are hit. AI should help with that by dumping huge amounts of data/experience, though there's still the problem of parsing it out to find the right solution, while not getting distracted by bad info. I think it was CNN this week that had an AI created "photo" that looked pretty good, except that the woman in the row boat has 3 legs. Sometimes knowledge that we take for granted still has to be specified.

Another day, when some people make a great deal of money in the market...and other people lose a great deal of money in the market. I alway check AFB several times a day...and I check yahoo!finance from time to time to see how AAPL is doing. On days like today, when I see AAPL going from peaks to valleys, I always think, "Who are these people? Who plays this game where the share price varies so much for little or no reason"? Today, for example, AAPL has had a range of $2.15/share...and it's peaked and cratered several time with about an hour to go. MSFT and META are acting about the same. So, I checked a few other stocks and some are just headed *lower*, like NFLX. Not much indication it'll finish anywhere near green. And NFLX had a range today of $10.06/share when I checked...even META had a range of $7.62/share. Holy moley!! Who are these people?

wtf we should ne over 180 by now Just 180? Why not 200!!! Looks like AAPL did better than most of the top tech companies today, possibly because AAPL lost a little yesterday too while the indexes were green. I'd like to see AAPL in the 200-205 range right now. But the Fed is still working on getting interest rates down, which really slows upcoming growth as a whole. Realistically, it seems like things are going to keep bumping around here for a while, both for AAPL and the markets. It doesn't mean that is what will happen. But lowering one's hopes makes for more occasional pleasant surprises.

BWDIK As I mentioned before, I think the use of Artificial Intelligence is WAY over-hyped ! ! Our local cable provider now has an AI interface handling the initial response. It is TERRIBLE ! ! ! By I mean my point in general. Computer Science is my area, and I know certain amount of what is behind AI. It just ain't there ! The problems in imitating human behavior are Very, Very complex. AI is wonderful as a field, and holds good promise for certain activities. But for the human interface, I don't think so.
