Okay, before everyone gets their pitchforks and touches out know that this is not a hit piece against the iPhone. But it is a humorous and serious look at what may be next in the evolution of the smartphone. It’s about 23 minutes long, by Joe Scott The End of the Smartphone is Near

I see an edit button when I reopen the original post, in the same way that I do when editing any of my posts, but I don’t know if that is because I originally created it. Perhaps one of the many AFB’ers who are smarter than I am can enlighten us.

That's why the first post of this thread is from chinacat, showing a date of Sep 23, 2023. Also, if one looks in the section, Weekend Updates, last weeks update is missing. I'd suggest that this thread be re-identified as Week Ending September 23, 2023, and a brand new thread with the correct labeling be created. Your post should then be moved to that thread and the last 4 posts of nwjade and chinacat should be deleted, IMO.

Apologies for my contribution to the disorder noted by Luckychoices. I think I need to take a little break, which will likely please a number of members.
Carry on.

It’s about 23 minutes long, by Joe Scott The End of the Smartphone is NearI was not impressed by the content of the video. To me, it was like "what is the next big thing after the automobile". There isn't a real good answer specifically as related to the phone(and technology). The next big thing may be in health, food, power, space, international relations, who knows . . .

What I thought this guy was trying to show was the evolution of the smartphone and some possibilities of its future designs. I can easily see how the goggles can replace the need for the desktop, as we know it today, as well as our television at some point in the future. But the most interesting part was the Ted Talk presentation by Imran Chaudhri. The Disappearing Computer

Gruber labels overheating issue as a nothingburger There has been FUD tossed around here and elsewhere, by wannabe thermal experts that the switch to Titanium was the culprit. As if Apple engineering are so incompetent that they can’t do a proper thermal design. It’s almost like there is a badge of honor by going online and demonstrating complete ignorance on a subject.

No problem chinacat. I’m away from the computer for a week, but can split the post up then into the 2 weekend threads, if one of the other mods doesn’t get to it first.
Tested out the waterproofness of the 14 today, taking pics while down 15-20 feet while snorkeling on the big island of Hawaii. All was good, though hopefully a little salt water isn’t too bad for the lightning pins. We have a few waterproof cases since my wife wasn’t sure about hers after a screen hit, so if the kids aren’t using them I’ll grab one next time.
Good to see the govt shutdown isn’t happening…yet. The 2 groups I work with on trail work were going to have to stop all volunteer work on Forest service lands, and there was the whole air traffic controller worry, just from ways it would affect our family in the first week. Sounds like it’s averaged a shutdown every 3 years since the changes ~45 years ago or so.
Onto a new month and a new quarter. Still plenty of negative catalysts, but maybe aapl and the market in general is ready for a change to some green.
