While aapl has been opening the Tuesday and Thursday daily threads lately (Thank you aapl!!! ) it's Thursday in some timezones, so I'm going to get the daily thread started this time! After a nice bump up yesterday, the RSI is just below 50 now, at 49.55 according to stockcharts. That should mean that it's basically neutral, neither oversold nor overbought...though the calculation is recursive so it's not just looking at the up and down movements in the last 14 trading days, nor the 182 price it was at back then. Nothing is simple, but it gets things into the right ballpark. schrts.co/WifPYasvIt's Thursday, so "How's your newer Apple product doing"? We like our new 15" M2 MacBookAir. The only negative noted so far is that on the midnight color that we got, fingerprints really show up on it. We haven't had this on our recent silver laptops, but that might be why Apple said in their announcement that their new Black on the MacBook Pros have a special coating to minimize this. We're also looking for a few more people to open the daily threads, occasionally or consistently. It really can be a simple task, of just creating a new thread from the Intraday page, giving it a title of the date, and then remembering to update the title after the close with the closing price. As for the content, anything on-topic works, from pricing or observations, to ideas/thoughts/links to get a discussion started. Having a few people doing it helps mix things up and keeps things interesting, while also helps fill in while people are away or busy with other things. Think about helping out. Thanks

We haven't had this on our recent silver laptops, but that might be why Apple said in their announcement that their new Black on the MacBook Pros have a special coating to minimize this. I was in an Apple Store in OZ a few months ago to buy an M2 MBA for my son. Surprisingly the Apple staff member serving me straight out said, don't get the blue one because of the fingerprints. The midnight blue is undoubtedly the nicest colour (in my book) but it is surprising that Apple released this colour given its propensity to show fingerprints... In the last few years there has been huge advancement in nano coatings that don't pick up finger prints. I wonder why this wasn't incorporated into the blue option? It's also concerning that an Apple staff member would dis one of their products in such an open manner. That being said apparently its is a very nice laptop.

And things are up to start the day, with the premise being the Fed might be done raising rates. It's funny how fickle people can be. But it's also funny how we latch on to one reasoning. After 4 months of lower highs, and a low RSI on the stock and on all the indexes, it was time to either rebound to get really ugly. And there just aren't the teeth of a big recession to get things really ugly right now. Stocks climbed on Thursday as investors bet the Federal Reserve is close to wrapping up its rate-hiking campaign and assessed a fresh stream of corporate results.Apple's earnings are this afternoon, and while I tend to be optimistic it's just hard to know for certain that nothing will be taken negatively, in this market. And then we have a virtual "wine tasting and market outlook" with Schwab this evening. It will be interesting to see what they have to say, and how different it is from what they might have said last Friday.

As I mentioned in previous threads, I've been slowly building up my positions (all short puts) in Jan '26 Apple options. They still trade very thinly, so I can only get a few at a time executed at my prices, but over the last few weeks, now and then, a trade executes. I've kept my strike prices between 125 and 175 because I think those are quite conservative numbers for Jan 2026. Like I do periodically, if I can get substantially better prices, I'll add to the position.
That said, while I think those numbers are very conservative for Jan 2026, I do worry a little about my March '24 170/190 BCS, but I think in the end it'll be okay because Q1 (CYQ4) will have been reported by then. But that's why I chose March in the first place. I still have some old Jan '24 140/160 BCS, but I worry less about those. In any case, like I always say, I use options for "playing", my main (by far) position is in long-term regular shares.
I also bought some Tesla a while back and doubled my position earlier this week when the price was under $200 briefly. Still minuscule compared to my Apple holdings.

Looks like it sold off after hours when Luca guided that Dec quarter revenue would be flat y-o-y

Typical dumb sell the news market reaction imo given as reported by CNBC: "Apple didn’t give formal guidance, but CFO Luca Maestri said that Apple expected December quarter revenue to “be similar to” last year’s revenue. However, Apple said that the December quarter this year will have one fewer week".

As long as you are not having to sell in the short term, it's either short term volatility or a buying opportunity. After a few up days, I was regretting not buying more below 167. Hmmmm

When Apple started to develop its own processors, I thought it was a mistake. Why try to compete with big, well-established names in that area. They have years of expertise behind them.
Boy, was I wrong ! !
------------------------- And maybe there is an issue with the larger iMacs. Maybe, those who want a larger screen may want to choose their own computer as the driver. Be-it a laptop (as in my case), a Mac Mini, or even a Mac Studio.

A dumb reaction in AH, but we've seen it many times before. Services are crushing it, 2 billion user base is staggering, and margins are out of this world. Short term dopes will sell on cautious guidance but I'm holding strong and steady.

All the $200 per share price targets appear unsustainable for the foreseeable future Thanks for the graphs. Like looking at the Fed interest rates, the trick is looking forward instead of back. It looks like the EPS were equal or greater in the 3 most recent quarters, so this next Q will replace the only down one. That's a little positive. But we'll have to see how this Q, and the economy and holiday season in general, are doing. Saying this Q will be about what last year's was still has some wiggle room, especially if Apple tends to guide on the conservative side. OTOH, it is a cautious statement to be reminded that it is unlikely this Q will be a blowout one. And they have a month of data to help give that guidance in the right direction. Guidance for $200, sometime over the next year, seems possible. But how possible or likely? 50%? 70%? 80%? 90%? That is a little tougher, but I'd probably guess at somewhere between 70% and 85%. What do other people think? How likely do you think it is that AAPL sees $200 sometime in the next 12 months?
