Looks like someone decided to sell big tech, while the Nasdaq as a whole is down just a tiny bit and the S&P and DOW are just above flat. After last week I was expecting a little more green, but looks like that isn't where the initial push is. We'll have to see what the follow thru is for the week.

A small pullback before the classic Santa Rally is probably a good thing, coil the spring.

His articles are interesting, pointing out how all sorts of stuff has worked well in the past, but not really making predictions as to the exact way it is going to go down in the future. And that's probably for the best, but is just not what I am expecting when reading a section called "Three killer apps" or any of the other labels. But that's more of my problem for expecting someone to have all the answers or at least guesses at them, whereas what he really is pushing in total is that on most full products, Apple is going all in on these things, putting out multiple reasons to have the product (3 apps), following up consistently with new versions, and generally deciding that they are putting some effort behind it. OTOH, the biggest push is that Apple has done this before in many areas, and while some things haven't worked out (iPod socks, HiFi), on major products they tend to have a multi pronged approach to make it work. And while Apple thinks and plans more for its major products, it also keeps pushing, unlike some of the examples of other companies that came up with something but then didn't really do the follow thru. Either way, I liked reading this part. Apple has many loyal fans, and I've wondered about at least some minimal merchandizing instead of only having it on the on-campus store, or possibly allowing a third party to do it. We had an Apple logoed onsie for our son, and I have an Apple hat. I think there would be room for Apple to sell t-shirts from the online store, or farm it out to a different company. But I understand the mindset of keeping it out of the Apple store, especially since Steve would have seen the on-campus store mobbed by tour bus loads of people, at least weekly if not more often. If a tour bus load of people are buying souvenirs at a normal Apple store, let them buy Apple Watches instead of just a t-shirt.

Ha. The Apple t-shirt comments are funny. I had a friend from California FaceTime me from the Cupertino headquarters store so I could virtually shop. Also spent a lot of time on eBay for employees selling t shirts or WWDC clothing that was handed out. Prices are a bit high for WWDC merchandise and designs are sometimes not what I’m looking for. Interesting to read pros and cons of making merchandise available from Apple’s viewpoint.

I recall buying a small white notebook with a blue Apple on its cover and a set of black dog tags on a chain. They are all packed away somewhere now. I never attended any of these events but I’m confident that they were always electrifying. Exciting times.

And I have a box of shirts that instead of just donating I've thought about selling somewhere. All new ones, some with code names that I don't know, like 'Falcon'. And I just came across my Apple ERT shirt that I got just before leaving, still folded up. And I have some magic 8 balls, I think from when we released 10.3 Server. But it's that Apple watch that I have around somewhere that I'd like to put on once in a while, from around 2000 or a few years either way. Blue anodized and a round face, with some colorful hands. Some people had very unique things dating from the early 90's or even early 80's when they did look into some of this stuff, but mainly as perks instead of retail. Someone had an Apple logo'd wind surf board, and another a cycling jacket. I'm sure the display of some of this stuff was lost over further years and the move to the new campus

I look forward to your sales post on AFB marketplace (yet to be opened) = )
