Quick pop quiz: Name the Barclays analyst who downgraded Apple (without looking it up on the Internet). Exactly, who the hell is this guy?
It would be one thing if Warren Buffett sold all of his AAPL shares. But it never ceases to amaze me that people will sell a stock based on a no name sell-side ANALyst changing his dartboard score. Meanwhile, Barclays is probably recommending its clients buy AAPL today.

I see it more as a litmus test of investors in Apple. If yesterday’s drop can be so large, based on a bearish view an analyst has how drops his estimate by a buck, then there is a lot of worry about how the company is going to do.
Likewise, what does that say for the entire market? These signs aren’t a sure thing (this plus the rsi).
Otoh, saying 161 from some price in the past, like 145 or 170, is much different than saying 160 while at the 194 level. And that is much more of a sell than a hold.
Some of this is likely just attention getting, or standing outside the herd in case things go your way. But there is also still some contingent out there that is anti-Apple. It sure gets the headlines.

Personally I don't think the market gave much of sh*t about the downgrade. It's all about big money managers taking profits after EOY on the MAG 7 stocks and others that had a huge run up in 2023 and rotating into whatever they think is due for a catch up trade in 2024... Very predictable imo.
