Warren Buffett once said that it's wise for investors “to be fearful when others are greedy and to be greedy only when others are fearful. This feels like the latter.

RSI now below 30. Good time for a bounce. The only worry is the RSI for the DOW just finally dipped below 70

If it hasn’t been mentioned. www.patentlyapple.com/2024/01/a-new-rumor-emerges-about-apple-acquiring-peloton-just-as-apple-fitness-announces-more-ways-than-eve.htmlAccording to a 2024 forecast report published by Deepwater Asset Management today, Apple is likely to acquire Peleton in the coming year. Their report notes that "Apple will look to bolster their workout segment in 2024 by adding fitness equipment to compliment the Watch and fitness tracking software. Peloton has a loyal subscriber base of about 3 million users that will add about $1.7B to Apple’s subscription revenue, additionally this fits well into Apple’s continued investment in health and wellness." Just as this prediction was made, Apple coincidentally sent out a press release titled "Apple Fitness+ offers more ways than ever to stay active and mindful in the new year." At this time, there was no mention of an acquisition of Peloton.

I recently did some rides on a peloton bike. It’s a user non-friendly, poorly built piece of shit. Generally, the hardware quality of their product is garbage, there’s no reason for Apple to bother acquiring them for that. They could easily build something better themselves. Additionally, the so-called user base, is really a bunch of people that are getting harvested for their data. That’s not Apple’s MO, so there’s hardly any value there. They would bundle that user base into fitness+ so it wouldn’t be a straight revenue gain either even if all subscribers stayed on.
What Apple really needs is CarPlay for exercise equipment. I refused to download pelotons shitty app, and let them harvest my data just to link my Apple Watch to their bike. Their user interface is crap and is deliberately hobbled, it doesn’t allow pairing via normal Bluetooth, you have to use their app. So I refused to pair, I missed out on some workout data as a result (power and cadence). However, my privacy is more valuable than their bike data, I just copied it in later. CarPlay for fitness equipment would let you sidestep the garbage UI/data harvesting and use the native Apple fitness instead. Sadly will probably never happen.

I have a hard time putting any faith in an article that does not know the difference between “compliment” and “complement”.

I don’t know about the quality, I’ll ask my son-in-law later. He had it for years with no issues and I can’t see engineering a pelotron type machine of any type that would disrupt the market and I suspect the company is stretched already with the current research and development. But I can see with a CarPlay UI engineered into an exercise machine with 3 million subscribers that can Add a billion+ to its service income easily. Plus they wouldn’t need to buy the company outright, just integrate a UI that would draw more interest to the mote and all the work put into heath already. Think Different.
