After a previous book (Trust) I read was on the Oprah list, I glanced through the list and found this book, Wild. And it's the story that the movie with Reece Witherspoon is based on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_(2014_film)It's about a young woman who hikes part of the Pacific Crest Trail in 1995. It hits lots of different things, not over dwelling on any one part. If you want a non-financial book to read, especially if you at least occasionally think about camping or backpacking, it's a good one. I doubt I will ever do a significant amount of the PCT, though I might backpack the John Muir Trail, and plan to finish the Tahoe Rim Trail this summer, both of which have sections that overlap with the PCT. Another book that is someone related is Long Trails by Liz Thomas. She gave a presentation to us at a Tahoe Rim Trail Association fundraiser a few weeks ago, with the rim trail being her first big thru hike before moving on to the Appalachian, PCT, and Continental Divide trails. But it's more of a preparing and doing book, than a recount of hiking.
