Okay, this is too serious of an event (Black Swan?) not to have an effect on the market. What is trading on Monday going to look like? Just like any outside stimulus where traders are undecided on how things will react, there will probably be some volatility, especially in the first 30 minutes. At some point people will wonder what has actually changed. Both for the candidates, and for the voters. I don't see much change, with some voters being even more solidified in their likely vote, but no big sympathy vote swing. Likewise with the ask by both parties to turn the temp down. If it actually happened and we were more civil overall, that would be a positive. But how would that change the market, in the short, medium, or long term? It is good to think about these things, and it's possible to do without bringing politics into it. I don't really know what will happen, though I expect some volatility while others wonder the same thing, and possibly some traders or bots try to exploit the unknown. But overall it seems mostly neutral even when looking just a week out, by itself. (Thank you Dave, for keeping it as politically neutral as possible, while questioning something likely on many people's minds)
