Plus the only solution to this concern of his, is to make phones, apps, and services operating system independent, so that the phone and OS are two separate purchases. God help us if some dumb ass politician actually takes this rant seriously. It is not a "rant". It is the "belief" of the carriers. I think the same "beliefs" exist in the internet. The ISPs do not like AMZN, GOOG, NFLX or AAPL videos. The carriers are not now allowed to charge "extra" for moderate downloads or streaming of content. Most of the posts at an AAPL investor board are about Apple. On occasion, I like to post the opposing thoughts, videos, ads, SO we can better understand the overall market. I am not taking issue with you posting this. I just think that the logic and thinking are completely goofy and pointless. Plus I would be surprised if any thinking person inside the carriers supports this guys line of thinking at all. It is like complaining that the sky is blue. There is nothing that can be done about it. Hardware and OS's go together for sound technical reasons. Strand is seeing an evil plot where none exist.

This stock is so out to lunch. Too bad mangement didn't let investors know till now that they were planning on taking all 2013 off and release nothing of importance for an entire year. Find another stock and another company; one that manages to the next quarter like you want instead of one that manages for the future. You'll be much happier. The company can be managed on both a short-term and long-term basis. It's looking more and more likely that there will be an onslaught of products released in the fall, much like last year. That's been my fear for months now, and I can only hope that supply is adequate this time around. If the same mistakes are made again, it will be severely disappointing.

I find THIS troubling.... Perhaps Apple management does not want to get their fingers dirty. Why is this troubling? There is nothing unusual at all in the approach. A dedicated Apple-owned and run facility for this product would never make economic sense. Yep, last thing Apple wants to do is build a factory from the ground up.

The market is pulling us up and the bulls have regrouped to keep us above 432.
A welcome sight.

It was very pleasing that none of the rumour sites had any prior knowledge of the Mac Pro's distinctive form factor. Apple doubling down on secrecy. And that translates to: the rumor mills, blogs, media are clueless purveyors of tripe. What's wrong with tripe? are you some kind of vegatarian or something?

It's nice AAPL took back the SMA-50.
And yet AAPL (GOOG too) were "held back" despite the larger gains if the indices. more rangebound signs?
Onto OpEx Friday (sigh).

Plus the only solution to this concern of his, is to make phones, apps, and services operating system independent, so that the phone and OS are two separate purchases. God help us if some dumb ass politician actually takes this rant seriously. Actually, this is the way desktop computing was back in the late '70s. You bought you hardware, then bought the OS you preferred to run on it. Your choices were UNIX, C/PM, DR/DOS, MS/DOS and several boutique OSs. Later came PC/DOS and OS/2. Now that you had a "computer" with OS, you had to find programs that would run on your configuration, not to mention peripherals. It was a disaster. In my opinion C/PM was the best desktop OS (you didn't need a degree to use it, although that helped). The only real problem with it was its owners (Digital Equipment Corporation) that refused to see the wisdom in pricing more aggressively. IIRC, a single seat cost $200, while MS/DOS cost $50. Guess what the nerds bought, and who was it that the public looked to for computer advice? If MSFT accomplished anything good during that period, it was squashing the many OSs, and providing standards (bad as they were) that made building a computer easier. From utter chaos MSFT did bring order, but then it killed any innovation that threatened its empire.

Innovation....or not. I mean, it's laughable. A toaster in a refrigerator might in fact be under development...

The Galaxy S4 Zoom is a reason why being wary of vs. being legitimately spooked by a competitor is an important distinction, if you ask me.

The Galaxy S4 Zoom is a reason why being wary of vs. being legitimately spooked by a competitor is an important distinction, if you ask me. I've said this before but Samsung is flooding the market with phones labelled "S4"... They are trying to say that the S4 has sold more units than the iPhone by calling every new release an S4.

We'll see what the next bit of Samsung PR is. I mean heck, until they start using the word "sold" like only Apple does - or actually break out smartphone unit sales period - it's just more of the same "meaningless, set-to-ignore" tripe, whether it's from Samsung or not. Funny, though, how Samsung's having a tougher go in the media lately. Aww: allthingsd.com/20130607/fears-of-slowing-galaxy-s4-sales-sink-samsung/

Innovation....or not. I mean, it's laughable. A toaster in a refrigerator might in fact be under development... The CoolToast? Includes an overboost function for whole or sliced-in-half bagels or english muffins so they can be used as coasters for, say, that cup you're filling with water right next to the built-in toaster. (Caution: Eating over toasted bagels or muffins is not advised. May cause increased crumbs, charring, and soggy bread.)

It would appear that Samsung is having difficulty with the workarounds they told the ITC they already had because they were "easy".

Maybe the icons are so basic for compatibility / user experience matching on the upcoming cheaper iPhones - hmmmmm. I like that hypothesis.

Samsung isn't going anywhere. But it shows that Apple maintains a focus lead, and it's not even close. In fact I fuzzily recall Nokia making a phone like that a couple years back...
How Apple applies and executes its focus is the key, as always.
