THIS is what I think the gold iPhone will look like. Perfect. In my world we called it anodized light architectural bronze. I think it's a good look but wouldn't want to own it as images look better against a black background imo. The more colors the better as far as I'm concerned.

That's a really classy gold. Much like the sim tray that we saw a few weeks ago.
Side-note, any chance of an increased screen size? You might be able to get .5" without the bezel. We saw a lot of leaks of the 5s and 5c backs but none of the front.

Champagne iPhone will be mine. It's going to look beautiful in a clear-back case with iOS7. Can't wait.

Hell, maybe we're all wrong and the 5C is for Champagne. Dom? Cristal? (j/k, of course).

From PED today: CIRP survey: Where Apple and Samsung get their customers"Twenty percent of Apple's (AAPL) iPhone customers over the past year were switching from an Android phone, but only 7% of Samsung buyers had previously owned an iPhone, according to a new study released to Fortune by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners." An anecdotal contribution to the above. My brother-in-law (now retired) lives in Escondido (north San Diego County) and just bough a summer retirement home in Coeur d'Alene ID (about 30 miles from me). Jim is tighter than Uncle McScrooge, and could probably afford just about anything he wanted. He bought the summer home in an adult planned community. They hadn't planned to buy when they did (wanted to shop for best deal, you know), until they learned that homes in this community (since Spring) have rarely remained on market more than 72 hours (up ~25% since Spring). They had to overbid to get this home. At a barbecue this weekend he asked me about the $399 iPad on sale now. What could I tell him? Well, instead of telling him, I asked what he was using now. His response, I believe, was something Panasonic he bought for $299. He hates it. I let him play with my year old iPad. Couldn't get it away from him the rest of the evening. When I left for the night he wanted to know if Apple has sales where he could get an iPad for less than $399. When I said NO, he responded, "well then I guess I'll have to spend $399 then". Keep in mind that he is cheap, as in CHEAP, so he is an atypical tablet buyer, but after experiencing Android he is prepared to pay Apple's price. I restrained myself and resisted the urge to tell him he could have bought the iPad first, and saved money by not buying the Android unit at all. Then on another note. At the same barbecue I spoke with a contractor friend and learned that since early Spring the firm he works for has generated a back log of home improvement contracts. Considering Bernanke's statements regarding reducing QE, I think the economy may very well be recovering strongly at this time.

What the heck is so magical about $512, would like to see the bulls charge through to above the high of the day.

Running strong and for sustained period over $510 has probably done considerable damage to OI today, so I'm looking forward to a good week given all the new found love for AAPL and product rumors ahead of Sept. 10 (all good rumors, btw).

ooo you're asking for it with that statement! Why? Because TA is tracking sentiments. Some track sentiments directly e.g. Wilder's ADX. Your understanding of TA seems to be limited. What is your understanding of TA? Chart patterns? Drawing trend lines? Resistances and supports? Moving averages? Pivot points? Fibonanci ratios? Accumulation/Distribution? Parabolic SAR? Candlesticks? John Carter's? John Person's indicators? Money Flows?

Drawing trend lines? Resistances and supports? Moving averages? Pivot points? Fibonanci ratios? Accumulation/Distribution? Parabolic SAR? Candlesticks? John Carter's? John Person's indicators? Money Flows? My TA IS limited. It's tracking sentiment, fine. But Carl Icahn is tracking value, and like FA, we KNEW AAPL was bound to recover, which is why I was buying all that I could at $400 level. Sorry, but I've followed TA on this board for years, and its not proven to be anything more than an "after-the-fact" guide that "fills in the blanks" on price movements. Lovey says it's not predictive, so what value does it have other than a reverberation among those TA players who climb aboard the stock with some residual self-fulfillment attributes. You can questions what I know about TA and my answer would be the same if you were to ask me about astrology. Why spend time on something without a track record? I think it may have some value in the day-to-day action, but beyond that, it's just too speculative to take seriously. If one feels good about entering and exiting positions based on TA, missing out on AAPL increases in between those moves, fine, but it's not much of a recommendation for it.

I would LIKE to say FA trumps everything, but it's true part of the time given the shenanigans in the market and the fact there are so many who don't know a balance sheet from an income statement, and that includes analysts and talking heads. FA trumps everything in the long run. Short-term, perception about FA (aka sentiments, voting machine) rules. TA/EW/MP are tools that measure sentiments indirectly.

The heck? My trades are working WELL today?
Well at least the AAPL trade is a bit off. That tells me I'm probably still in the same universe. ;D

Mercel, you HAVE noticed the drastic sentiment change, right? Technicals is just another way of measuring that as mace says. For crying out loud even iPad is humoring my blog. Proof ANYONE can learn right here! ;D

Tools are tools. I've learned how to shoot with a rifle for many years. Still can't shoot properly. The rifle fails me. I'm a born natural sharpshooter, if only one can design a rifle properly, and those pesky wind.

Mercel, if there's one thing technicals is good for it's replacing fear with information.
Btw, it DID say AAPL _could_ be bullish today. It's not the only way to have known that but it's another perspective.
It's like the OBDII port on your car, kinda sorta a little. It won't say what'll happen next but there's tons of data to mine in that stream that helps calculate trade entries.
Anyone who says technicals predicts is a fraud. But having info and instruments and even rudimentary knowledge of what they mean (trust me, I have little clue about the exact formulas)? I don't "freak out" as much as I used to, and I can pick my trades a bit better. Btw technicals can also be as simple as trendlines. You don't hate those, right? Like a stock EKG, sorta.
Of course I'm still a huge fan of fundamentals, being one of the few standard bearers left on AFB. Lucky you you're all stuck with me as fundamentals discussion leader. ;D

AAPL bounced back nicely! But I'm at a loss how to trade it right now, the momo has been so fierce.
(Like I said, technicals isn't the end-all be-all.)
Everyone, technicals trader or otherwise, was looking at AAPL to break 504. So there's 512/515 next but it's getting hard to keep up with price points...

So, blame my failure to "bite my lip" on things I don't agree with. Just like astrology may have some validity because it correlates to biorhythms, TA may have some validity as it correlates to underlying dynamic processes. Since these processes involve feedback, it is difficult to estimate their behavior, but there is enough order to make us see patterns. In a similar way, a horoscope can influence the way we view the days events and become a self fulfilling prophecy, just as enough TA followers can impose an order on the market that would not exist in the absence of the belief in TA, (i.e. 68.1 % retrace). FA, TA, astology....all are models of reality. None are complete. There is a saying about models..."All models are wrong, some are useful"

Well, many elements of technicals are simply pure derivatives of price action. Trendlines are just pure charting. But yep, very nice post. How's the plan going bud? Congrats!

At the risk of car talk, I'm reading some news about Tesla and the f/s were dressed up by excluding certain R&D expenses, admin. and interest costs yet they included one-time revenues like 13K per 5,150 vehicles sold ($69M worth -- Tesla is selling these credits to other automakers). The $100M gross profit is on a Non-GAAP basis.

I'm no expert on TA but plot a 200MA on literally any tradable instrument and tell me there is zero value in it.

Hey Red - That "2:14" push didn't happen today.
I'll be very happy if we close above 510. It kinda sets the stage for 525-530 by Friday.

Why exactly does it bother ta enthusiasts that other people disregard it? I mean I could care less what other people think. It works for me. Use what works for you.
Boring argument that seems to go on endlessly...

Mercel and mace I go way back on AFB. Don't mind the back and forth macwire.
IF tomorrow goes somewhat according to "plan"?
What an awesome day. I'm about to get steamrolled tomorrow, I just know it. Anyone know where I can buy salt pallets to toss over my shoulder?
